Powerchip for Z4M- Tune

Anyone here done this mod? It is 490.00 for the race version and 290.00 for the other version. Seems like a good deal.

http://www.evosport.com/product/default.aspx

Cannot seem to get link to work. Search Product Catalog-->BMW-->Z4-->Engine-->Software/Chip if link does not work. They also have a kit with headers, pulley, software for under 1.5k...

I cut and paste table to my post if you want to see prices. Moderator let me know if this is a problem. This is the first time I have heard of anyone making software for our cars except ESS and RPI.

Those are ebay headers. I would very highly suggest not purchasing those, and if you really want to, would suggest just getting them from ebay where they are priced what they are actually worth.

Im 99% sure the Powerchip tune is the same as the RPi tune. At least here in OZ its the same, the power chip website even has the same dynos RPI posted up here with the RPI intake scoop as well.

The RPI uses powerchip tune with the scoop.

http://shoprpi.com/product_info.php?...products_id=66

Not sure if the powerchip tune is adaptive to new mods like the ESS tune.

Yeh RPi and powerchip reflash are the same.
Here is the PDF that shows the same dyno graph ect. All over the site it says 22kw gain, but u look at the graph and their datalog and its only 9kw gain max.

http://www.fueltronics.com.au/datasheets/1/Bmw0231.pdf

Ow yeah and the powerchip reflash costs $1999! WTF!

Yeh but not worth 2gs from powerchip.
I really hate not having full control over the ECU. I wish RPI or ESS would sell the cable + software so we could have out own tuners work on the car.
I really dont wanna have to install an aftermarket ecu since there is no plug n play option for us.

I haven't seen anything about a reflash yet. No ECU tune order form like RPI.

Just, "The Powerchip is easy to fit, and is backed by a three year warranty, making it the easiest and safest way of modifying most modern vehicles."

So 9kW gain @ 8500rpm. Is safe for the engine to rev up that high?

These links should work correctly:

Does anyone know what the 91 vs 93 octane map is all about? That seems like such a small difference. We have 91 in AZ. But I mix 100 octane to about 95 octane for track days (which have been only two since I got this car).

You would be suprised there is a noticeable difference between the two when it comes to performance. The ESS software will adapt to octane up to 100 on the fly. Im not sure if powerchips does a pre-set tune for 91 / 93 or if it is designed to adapt.
