Transport mode update for everyone!
Need your thoughts.
So I bought the fancy scanner which is awesome. It scanned 23 categories and 5 came up as having a fault. I cleared/erased all the codes. The only code that would not clear was the transport mode code. I went into the system and cleared it manually and it kept coming back on and would not be cleared no matter how hard I tried. So I unplugged and was going to let my z4 run for a while since it has been a week since I have driven it. Since I am not driving it until nicer weather. Now it won't start and the green light on the battery is gone. I'm guessing it is in permanent transport mode since the battery is dead. In fact I bet the charged it the morning before we picked it up to buy it. So I am pretty sure I need a new battery. Your thoughts. |

Disconnect the battery and charge it up completely with a quality charger.
Disconnect the charger and let the battery rest for at least 12 hours Measure the battery voltage, if it's below 50% in chart it's getting weak and is ready to be changed. |

It was fully charged one week ago.
I then tried to start it and nothing. Went to Autozone. Tested it 38% charge. Bought a new better battery. This battery has been on the shelf for 3 months and had a charge of 97% so I bought it. My baby z4 started right up. Now Im clearing the codes. |

Robert16 and I had PM conversations regarding the scan tool he bought, which is the Foxwell NT510/Schwaben version from ECS. I think his car has an electrical issue and the problem is not with the scan tool. I have the ECS Schwaben version of the Foxwell NT510 and I have taken my Z4 in and out of transport mode several times. The Schwaben scan tool works on all 3 of my BMWs ranging from 1997 through 2008. I've also used it successfully on several friends a cars two being a 2003 540i and a 2011 E90.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
