Buying a z4m out of state need advice

I want a z4m. I have my eyes on one in cali. Any good places for a ppi that perform health analysis on the s54, like oil test for rod bearing failure

Also, do you guys know any shipping methods from sandiego to Florida?

Regards,

Regards,
Regarding rod bearings: In my opinion, and based on my personal experience in addition to what we’ve been seeing on this forum lately, if the car has over 60K miles, bake this $1,600 expense into your offer. I might be wrong, but the oil analysis only seems to work if you do it consistently and can monitor the results over time.

Similarly, CA is a big state and there is a good Z4M community in both northern and southern CA that can take a look at the car and/or provide recommendations for a PPI shop.

Check San Diego BMW CCA’s FB page. It’s very active with a ton of local shops. Excellent local shops.

Regardless, S54/62/65 basically the bearing is a wear item. UOA tells you whether replacement is imminent or next owner’s issue. Still wouldn’t hurt to request one as part of the purchase. You could even expedite a sample and BlackStone will return the result within 24 hours.

The Z Sports Car Club of America is also very active and may have someone in that vicinity who can help. Look for ZSCCA on Facebook.
