I always turn on the sport for three reasons:
1. Same acceleration that my Chevy S10 had
2. When I get into the gas, I want it now, not in a second or so.
5. I like the tighter steering of the sport mode.

Have to say I haven't been able to feel a change in the steering in sport mode - does that particular feature only kick in if you press the button when stationary? I usually just press it on the move (when approaching twisties!).

How do you guys find road handling in your vehicles? I know its only a few days old and it may be down to the fact I have run flats but it seems to tramline quite a lot, even on what seems to be flat surfaces

RFT's do tend to tramline more than regular tires. With regular tires the handling is superb and a little less stiff. My old car with RFT's would wheel hop around a corner rather than slide due to the stiffer sidewall that is inherent with an RFT.

Tramlining is also reduced with higher tire pressures, I find. So keep your tire pressures at the recommended levels or slightly higher.

Also, crappy roads lead to increased tramlining (more grooves, etc.).

Ah thanks, ill see how I get on with the RFT's, ill change if it gets annoying!
Do you guys know if the xenons are bi xenon? I added them as an extra which also added the headlight washers, they seem pretty powerful but it doesnt actually state anywhere that they are?
Also, which position should the wiper arm be in to be on auto? ive tried all of them when in heavy rain and only the 2 manual settings seem to work! (i know i know, I should probably read my manual, you guys are quicker though )
Cheers,
Nick

I had exactly the same issue and often had to punch the sport mode button on deeply grooved freeways like I often encounter in Oregon. I did find that Sport mode gave me more control, but the extent of the tramlining was troubling to me.

I just put on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s and the tramlining disappeared entirely - even on the most heavily grooved roadways.

Sounds tempting! How much did they set you back with fitting?
How did this affect the sensor? do you still have to hit the button when you fill them up?
Do you think I would be able to sell the old ones, they are only a few days old

About $1150 after shipping (from Tire Rack), mounting and balancing. I haven't had to fool with the sensor button at all and I have adjusted the pressure a couple of times since I got them installed last Thursday.

I am hoping the old ones can be sold 'cuz my old ones only had 3000 miles on them and only barely show wear. I do keep seeing ads for Want to Buy on RFTs, so I assume there are folks who want them. I haven't tried posting mine yet.

His is a 2007 UK model. I guess it would be more similar to a NA 2007 3.0i rather than the 3.0si.

Geez, fire-n-ice, pay attention!

you do know the sport button doesn't actully make the car faster right?

the other option is to just step on the pedal faster,

really it shouldn't take you much more time to put the pedal all the way to the floor than to only push it halfway.

Yes, I realize that the car doesn't go faster. I also realize that it doesn't change the suspension, only the throttle mapping and steering assist. (doesn't improve mileage either)

With my step and the 2.5, I at least feel that it reacts faster. I spend so much time in stop and go, maybe it is the throttle adaptation.

By the way, this isn't supposed to be half as rude as it sounds.

since yours is an auto as well, I think your sport button does more than mine

isn't it supposed to help with how the trans shifts too?

With the automatic, if you press the "sport" button, you leave tracks of flames behind you like in Back to the Future movies.
