Ditched the RFT's
Finally!!!
I ditched the run-flats and put on a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW's I went with the standard 225/40/18's up front but wanted a little wider stance in the back so I put on 255/35/18's on the rear. Looks cool! Will add pics tonight. Oh what a feeling! No tramlining! No more rough ride. Quiet! I've been reading the surveys in the TireRack.com These Conti's had the best marks for tread wear, noise, and ride comfort. Thank you TireRack.com $863.47 It's the best decision I ever made. Now, got to get a roadside emergency kit.

How many miles did you get out of your RFTs?
Just put the Conti Extreme DW on my 335i. Much improved ride. Unfortunately for me, the seller put new RFTs on the week before I bought the Z4.

Anyway, I am happy that you are seeing a big improvement with the new tires. Just get yourself a AAA membership or a tire plug / goop and compressor kit in case you ever get a flat. Those tires were a lot cheaper than my Hankooks from TireRack. I think I paid around $950 for my set. Part of that may have been extra shipping and duties up here to Canada. But its nice to know that there is a decent tire as an alternative to the Hankook in a similar price range.

They were about 10 months old with only 5,500 miles on them. Dealer put them on new when I bought the car last June 2010. My step-son is trying to sell them out of his shop in McKinney, TX.

I went 10 mm wider. No problems with rubbing. very little change in the profile so little change in the mph readout.

Hi Huz-z,
Actually my tires cost $863.47 including about $53 shipping. goofed in the OP above. The Hankook's were going to be about $150 cheaper but they rated just a little less in the noise and ride comfort survey. It was actually a close decision with the Conti's winning out. I almost pulled the trigger on the Hankooks only because of what I read hear in this forum. Shipping to CA probably IS a lot more. Thanks for the help everyone in making my decision. The wife just loves 'em.

Sweet! Just put the same tires on my coupe recently and love them. I got the conti comfort kit for possible flats and it was about $75 from tire rack.

Ditched the run-flats
My step-son has an 8 bay auto/4x4/diesel repair shop in McKinney, TX.
side note: We gave our 14 year-old Cadillac Seville to his younger brother last year. The step-son with the 8 bay shop has his eye on this one in about 7 years or so. ha He's taking REAL GOOD care of us. He tells me not to drive too fast. ha

I was quoting the 2006 3.0si roadster OEM sizes which came from the Tirerack.com analysis. I was watching my step-son move and adjust my Z4 alignment on his big new $15,000 computerized alignment machine. Amazing!

Cool!
I'm in Hackberry Creek north of Las Colinas. We'll have to meet up at cars and coffee. Ever make it to the Plano C&C?

Bring your family car the first time with the kids. Lots of cars to see. Lotus, Z8's, Corvettes, etc. Next month bring the Z4. I think about a dozen Z4's show up most months. It's cool just to get out and walk around. People like to show off their cars. Strike up a conversation. Everyone's real friendly.
