Is there any particular stamps or markings on the differentials to correspond them to the gear ratios within them?

The diffs I have seen have a tag from the factory with the ratio marked on it

If you have the diff out of the car but don't want to open it or the tag is missing.
Mark one hole on the input flange and one hole on one of the output flanges. Turn the input flange while counting the number of rotations the output flange makes. It will always be at least 3 rotations, you just need to decide whether 3.23,3.46,3.64,3.73 etc.etc by the portion of a complete rotation of the output shaft before the input shaft returns to where you started......hope that makes sense.
