Macht Schnell Headers for S54

Do any of you have them installed? I'm interested to hear your impressions. My wrecked mz4 had fabspeed headers which put up with 30+ track days and daily driving abuse. yielded good numbers on the dyno as well.

The fabspeed required verrry minor heat shield bending. I'm curious about fitment on mz4 for the macht schnell ones.

i have my sights set on supersprint v2 stepped, but until I find a set FS, I'm keeping my options open. EAS posted a dyno sheet with like 30whp gain..I'm assuming that's with a tune factored in. The ceramic coating on them looks nice as well...

So if any of you have them, or can add any input, please do!

Others will reply; I recall it being suggested these were junk eBay headers painted black.

For that kind of money I'd rather get this.

Free shipping too.

What tune do you have? If it's ESS, they've had issues with SuperSprint headers in the past, and only recommend OEM Euro/CSL headers.

no tune at the moment. i was running evolve on my last mz4 (i have nothing good to say about that tune). i'm likely getting a custom dyno tune from my tuner after header install.

this is one of those 'search function' moments, but while i have your attention - do you think gains of oem euro/csl are similar or less than aftermarket headers? not counting stepped, as i believe those have the most hp at peak rpm.

I had no idea either. I thought all they make is filters and intakes.

Apparently the owner is a HUGE BMW fan and has every M made under the sun since the late 90s.

I'm in the same boat looking for headers and wondering about the difference in gains, because euro headers can be had for less than half the price of most reputable aftermarket ones.

Remember that our 02 sensors and EGT bunge are super sensitive when move from the OE location, many supersprint v2 and v1 owners have had issues the CEL's as a result, saw you were thinking about jumping into the CP group buy. I want to as well but don't know if its worth the possible headache with all the possible codes and having to switch out my section 1

Hanging in there

Haven't driven the car much, its been in Florida fr the past two years under its cover in its beautiful new garage

Possibly 100-200 miles in the past 2 years lol,
When I go down I give it a small drive, a slight dusting and a few kisses and hugs

This ones a keeper

someone chime in and correct me if i'm under the wrong impression. the numbers i've seen from euro headers haven't been as impressive as what supersprint stepped headers yield.

i had fabspeed for many miles and track events. zero complaints! i have a feeling that SS would be a noticeable step up, though.

tommy what section 1 are you on right now? i have a supersprint section 1, but i have a feeling that i still have to swap that out to the stepped supersprint section 1 if i want stepped headers. what a pain.

Supersprints, specifically the V1 stepped, do yield the largest peak gains. A stock car going to a Supersprint V1 setup should see 30-35 hp.

Stepped V2's will work with a stock section 1, so they would work with your setup. The V1 stepped have their own special section 1. For peak gains you'd want to go V1 stepped + V1 section 1. For the lowest cost, buy the V2 stepped and keep your current section 1. Whether or not it's worth a few horsepower is up to you.

Custom-performance.net made me a custom section 1 using the Supersprint V1 connecting pipe and welding in HJS cats. It's identical in hardware to the catted section 1, but for 2/3 the price. I paid right around $2k shipped for it.

You have to use the specific section 1 that mates up with the V1 headers they are a different flange design and different length, the other option is to have a custom section 1 made. I have the euro headers paired with a modified US spec sec 1 with cats in it and o2 sensors plugged in. Never had a code or any issues. I want to make the switch to the v2 stepped over the v1 simple because i want to keep my section 1.

Hey Matt. I was in the custom performance group but for SS V1 stepped on m3 forum but was ultimately informed that the v1 stepped design does not fit the z4m without modification. Do you know if anybody is doing a v2 stepped group buy anytime?
