Recall/TSB: MCoupe '07 - Crankshaft Torsion
So I dropped the car off yesterday to get the 1200mi service done so I can finally open here up and while I am getting my service ticket written up, they noticed there there was a new recall out on my car. It was apparently issued 11/7/07 so it is pretty new. Anyhow, they gave me a rental 3er ... was hoping for a Cooper S or something more fun.
I'll report back on what actual work is done on this and what the service writer tells me about the reason for the recall. Has anyone else heard of this? Jim |

Crank Shaft Dampner recall
I checked with my Service Advisor at BMW Seattle and he indicates the following: There is actually no SIB or TSB for this problem. There was an unofficial recall (ie: not through US Gov). A small range of production cars has problems with the Crank Shaft Dampner. Majority of the impacted cars were in Dealer Inventory at the time and the few cars that had already been sold had the owners contacted. Unless you have received a phone call or letter from BMWNA, your car is not impacted by this recall.
