looking for input on price

2007 z4 M coupe with ~5k, private party sale.

all serviced up at the OG dealership. condition is perfect with the exception of a small curb rash on one wheel and a scrape on one portion of the front lip. it can be repaired without painting the entire valance because there is a hard line above the lip.

factory warranty is up, no extended warranty to speak of.

options appear to be heavy, with the exception of extended leather - it has premium audio, nav, etc.

color is rare - SBM with light sepang interior (not extended), aluminum trim.

price is relative, i know that...but i'm curious what everyone thinks something like this should be on the open market? what price would seem fair vs. outrageous?

I'd start with 35k private party.

Somewhere 34k-35K private party. Shockingly low miles, condition, 08 MY, options, and color all make this a real find.

KBB says these prices with options installed and milage entered..

Retail 36,766
CPO 39,666
Private Party Excellent 33,966
Private Party Very Good 33,166

When i found my 2008 Space Grey, I thought the price was a little steep.. I was able to get it for about 2,500 less than asking price.. I still paid a little more than I would have liked, but it was EXACTLY what I was looking for.. And yes, I wanted the wood dash trim.. Extended leather is something I wanted also... For the car you are looking at, the milage and color are a big selling points.. I hope things can work out.. Sepang Bronze is pretty sweet..

I say somewhere in the $35k. you might face some competetive biddings due to the rare colors combo. Go with your heart and dont look back, car like this doesnt go on sale that often. Good luck

I would say that 34K is the sweet spot on this car. The wheel and nose can be repaired reasonably and this is a rare color combo. It took me a year and a trip to Russia(almost!) to get this color and the options I wanted.

Good Luck and keep us in the loop. You know I'm interested!

agree 34-35 seems fair.

I deduce that you are looking at either:
VIN # ending in LL93933 (Coupe # 927, 1 of 3 configured as such)
VIN # ending in LL93934 (Coupe # 950, 1 of 4 configured as such)

Both were produced in 12/06, have A32 exterior color (SBM), Aluminum trim, are Coupes, and have one of the 2 versions of bronze interior that was available. Which means that car is either 1 of 3 or 1 of 4 that were basically configured in that manner. Without looking at any other possible options.

Assuming I am looking at the sheet right, which, i might not be.

Hahaa....

You have the Sepang Bronze H interior (LSA8). one of 3 with the speedo not in KmH, one of 2 with CO2 control. That car has a twin, thats it.

All I can say is that I wouldn't let $1-2K stand in the way of this car if you want it - you may regret it. These cars are obviously not common and as time goes by the low-milage garage queens will disappear and/or be snapped up by specialty dealers (e.g. EAG) and sold at a premium. While you are haggling, someone may just come in a buy it out from underneath you. Now, if this is not the car you really want or you don't care that much about the low milage, that may not matter. The seller likely knows what he has and knows someone will buy it, so it may depend on how quickly the seller wants to unload it.

I'd shoot for $35K and (personally) pay up to $36.5K for this car. As as point of reference, I bought my 2007 with 9K miles last fall for $35K with a few months of factory warranty left. Seller wanted $37.5...I could tell that $35K was his break point, and this WAS the car I wanted, the right color, the right milage, the right condition. I put another few thousand to make the car truly like new and have never looked back.

I agree with every point in your post except that I'm a little stronger on price. I would say that if this is the color and spec you're looking for, I would pay a 3-4k premium. That represents what, a 10% premium? With the production numbers we're talking, it's so unlikely to find the exact car you're looking for with that kind of mileage. What are the odds you'll find another?
Come to think of it, I always wanted a Sepang Bronze. Maybe I'll buy this one and sell my TiAg to reset the mileage clock
Best of luck and remember you'll have no memory of those few thousand dollars a few years down the road.

So true. I probably paid more than I needed to, and I don't regret it at all. I got the exact car I wanted (well, actually better - I got extended leather!). I did get a little bummed that another forum member bought one of my car's 3 identical siblings around the same time I did, yet with fewer miles, but I'll live with it

If the car checks out after a PPI, then make him your best offer. I worked my deal for almost a year before both parties were happy. It was worth it all in the end.

welp, i went and checked the car out today. the owner was very nice and accomodating. he had his wife drive it to his tile business and it was parked inside.

Armand from VAC came up and helped me out with a PPI.

mechanically, the car is great. no weird sounds, leaks, seepage - there was one small hose for what i assume is to a coolant reservoir that looked like it needed replacement but everything worked as expected.

the problem? the car is trashed cosmetically, at least on the outside. it had dings and deep scratches all over the place. it had a full on dent middle-high on the passenger side door and a more crease-like dent underneath. the front d-side fender had two vertical scratches that were laser straight and had creases to go along with them. major ones. the driver side door had a dent positioned rather high and also a lower ding. the front lip was attached by a parking block and cracks eminated from that into the portion of the valance above it. i couldn't not believe the condition of the vehicle for being driven so little and garaged.

the owner, as i mentioned, was very nice, but ultimately - he's not a car guy. apparently he wasn't aware of the passenger side dent! this thing was the size of a football! he didn't notice the creases behind the scratches.

i felt terrible as i paid money for a PPI that wasn't necessary due to the cosmetic issues and also that such a gem of a car has been treated so poorly.

i threw him an offer that was a lot lower than he wanted but i don't care. it would take me a lot of money to make that car acceptable. it's a shame, it really is.

PS - i'm 6'4", 330...wide and not fat. i have driven a lot of cars. i'd say the tightest modern car for me has been the lotus exige. well, this car is tighter. the left shoulder area is non-existant for me. i could adjust as i always have, since i love small sports cars, but wow...i was amazed at how tight this thing is. it's not much bigger than the z3 coupes, if at all.

Sorry to hear about all of the issues. You would think with that kind of mileage it would be in alot better shape, but you never know. Don't think of the PPI as money wasted. You actually saved yourself from buying a car that you wouldn't have been happy with in the end. Thanks for letting us know and good luck with your search and with whatever you decide to buy!

Wow. Simply blows my mind that someone would buy a car like this and treat it like ****. Maybe he'll take your "low ball" offer, which I'm sure is reasonable when condition is taken into consideration.

I can't see you fitting in the car at all given you physical description. I have a friend, 6'4", 250 or so, and he can't even get in the car. I've seen him in a roadster, and he's looking over and not through the windshield.

He does fit quite nicely in the new 1M however. There's a ton more headroom and shoulder room in that car--simply huge compared to the E85/6.

Wow! Sounds like a horror show, what a waste of a nice car. I'm taking it this was your first time actually sitting in one of these cars. Given your size are you rethinking the whole thing? Like Finnegan said, I'd be really surprised if the car fit you.
