Alarm Install in 07 M coupe.

I have searched the forum looking for instructions concerning this. The most recent comments are about a year ago and I am not sure the people are still on the forum. So I am going to just ask out right and confirm what I have interpid.

The hood sensor seem to be pretty cut and dry. It mounts between the two cross members on the fire wall under the hood. the wire looks to be behind the brake reservoir.

The siren/tilt snsor is mounted behind the passenger rear wheel. Asd I understand you remove three (3) plastic screews and pull back the plastic wheel liner. I looks like it is mounted next to the carbon canister. and the wires are just loosely hung there.

Once everything is installed you go to the dealer to have the alarm coded, before it works.

Thank You
Paul

All correct, with the exception of the location for the alarm unit. Goes more or less between the two mufflers. Here are the instructions I used.

The alarm is mounted on the passenger side. You do not need to remove fender liner. The bracket is visible looking between muffler and rear qtr panel from under the car. I had my installed without removing fender liner.

Just place the power lead to power the clown nose.

My clown nose blinks and I don't have the factory alarm. I don't know if it came from the factory this way, or if the stealership programmed it to blink at some point - I never asked them to - but it probably scares 98% of the amateurs who might consider a smash & grab away. The other 2% will get into your car if they really want to, alarm or not, so I'm quite happy with this solution.

I just bought a used E46 ZHP Coupe and it has the OEM alarm, so all my noses glow.

Well I installed the tilt/siren module under the car and the hood sensor. I notice the other day that the clown nose was blinking when the car is locked. I know before I installed the sensors the led light didn't work. I wonder if the alarm is working now? without me having it turned on at the stealer.

Why not just test yourself? Lock the doors via key fob. Then try opening the trunk manually with the key inserted.

It was free for me because I told them they didn't program my keys properly. Car was still under warranty. The going price is around $100.

My Indy use AutoLogic but could not get right. I decided not to mess with it and have the dealer do it.

Is that same as the gt1? I think that's what's needed.

Stupidly expensive is an understatement. I think I paid about $150 at the dealer to get mine coded, if I recalled correctly. Chances are that it won't go as expected the first time either. Search the alarm thread and you will see all the troubles related to getting it working correctly.

alarm siren

I have looked but do not see where it states to put the siren in the Z4MR. Is it the same as an I or SI in the bumper or does it go under the car similar to the Z4MC?

Thanks in advance.

The best theft prevention is already a standard option in our cars. A manual Transmission. Considering more people have passports in the US than can drive stick you are looking at less than 15%
