http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=648372 Otherwise, I usually go there with Viper Club/Bimmershop/MSC in August. If you want to come to Le Circuit Mont Tremblant, we organize 2 lapping days this summer with VAG Motorsport in July and August. |

Bonjour Marc... Nice to see a fellow M Coupé in Montreal. I track quite a lot and will go for my instructor licence this year. My 4th track thread is HERE and it would be nice to see you (again?) at LCMT or elsewhere.
I need to figure out what mods are essential (nothing is) as a next step for my car. Félicitations! Antoine, |

I took the car a couple of time during the last days and really enjoy it. However, I need to admit that I am not fully impressed with the power. It's decent but I don't know why, I was hoping for a little bit more. The good news is I will have CSL headers soon so it might help!
I did a couple of pulls against my buddy with his 2012 Mustang Boss 302 (with no restrictor plates) and it was about similar even if his car is 400lbs heavier. Acceleration was about the same from 50 to 140mph. So it pulls just a tad more than my E46 M3 at the end of last season (+/- 300whp/2800lbs vs 380whp/3250lbs). I start my first mods on the car. I removed the oem backing plates behind the rotors. And I delete the brake pads sensors. I also bought Performance Friction Z rated street pads today cause the HP+ that were on the car had less than 1/16'' of compound remaining. I hate those pads with a passion also. The have a good initial bite on the track but can't handle a lot of heat and they make a lot of dust and noise on the street... I will run PF01 all 4 corners on the track. I also installed a Braille 21Lbs battery. This is the first mods to shave some weight! Last edited by Gt4; 03-22-2012 at 11:03 PM.. |

My Deka battery is mounted similarly, using the same thing to hold it down
Why did you remove the rotor backing plates? is their function purely to reduce brake dust? I'm assuming your brakes run cooler without them. Whats their weight? I think you should do the VT2-500 upgrade for your supercharger. It should net 420rwhp

I removed the backing plates because I will put brake ducts in front and it help to reduce heat a bit. Run cooler= pads last longer! I don't think I will be able to weight them with my scale at home but it weight less than a pound each I think. I won't go VT2-500 this year for sure. I want to do a couple of things before adding more power. I want to have a decent suspension/brakes setup first. KW Clubsport are already ordered. Than I might go with a (or two) Recaro Pole Position, I'm 6'2'' and I think it would be more confortable with a lower seat, plus it would shave some serious weight! Do you have OEM clutch and flywheel with your VT2-500? |

yeah, I have the oem clutch/flywheel. Its held up well with about 10k miles on the setup. Sometimes I smell it just a little bit, but it never slips.
Good call on the seats. I can't wait to do coilovers and seats on mine too. I've been reading a lot about the Lotus OEM Probax seats. Light, leather, and inexpensive. Might not be as supportive as the Pole Positions though

I went yesterday to a local shop and tried A LOT of race seats (OMP Champ/WRC/HTE, Cobra Sebring/Suzuka, Sparco Evo 2/Circuit) and can't find a comfortable one. That why I will stick with Recaro Pole Position. I can drive in those seats for hours on the track or daily driving without any problem. |

I want to become an instructor. So I was thinking of doing it with BMW club Quebec. Not sure if my track schedule will permit it this year since my first BMW Club Quebec event is in August. Not thinking of going to AISA school in May. I never did track with them. I am more inclined to go with BMW Trillium at Mosport for Club Racing school... (27 - 29th April) ... just waiting on a buddy of mine to answer if he is going too. If I do this... the Calabogie event would be too close. But if Mosport falls through, I should sign up with AISA. |

Here are the other mods on the car so far:
Windows tint at 35% all around and also removed the ///M badge on the fenders: I got my CSL headers from Donovan today, yeah! And I bought a little trailer yesterday that I will bring with me at the track this summer to carry the track wheels, fuel jugs, jack and tools. I will work on the trailer once I'm done with the car. I need to fabricate a custom hitch too. |

Today's mods:
I use Plastidip to paint the kidney grill, 3 pieces oem strut braces and the rods that hold the APR Splitter in place. My front badge is also black. Than I had some spare time this afternoon so I removed the OEM headers. It took me 2 hours. So much easier than an E46 M3. I should be able to install the CSL headers tomorrow and modify the post cats o2 sensors bungs and EGT bung. |

Lapping/solosprint/roadrace ? Merci Oh and... Stadium configuration is that half the track? If that is it, it's Sad to lose Temptation... but the rest is cool too. Last edited by Tonybest; 03-26-2012 at 11:22 AM.. |
