Seat falling apart

Help, when I got in my coupe today I heard a noise behind me. The backing to my driverseat had just fallen off!! It is not under warranty anymore and it shouldn't be a difficult fix even for a mechanically impaired woman such as I. Any suggestions?

Pics?

There are some tabs on the seat backs that can work their way loose.

Is this the tab? I found two of them hanging around loose in the seat, back side of them looks like some chipboard/cardboard had been once attached? How do I re-attach them?

yes, those are the tabs for the top. You should be able to glue those back on to the fiber-board seat back.. At the bottom of the seat back are 2 plastic plugs that go into holes in the seat frame. Those plugs are the things that keep falling out on my seat, with the result that the fiber board is getting kind of bent up at the bottom.. going to have to see if I can McGyver some kind of fix.

yes I saw two white clips on each side toward the bottom, and I can make out where the two top black one were attached but don't know the direction to to reattach them plus what kind of glue to use.

Maybe something like liquid nails? I would take a clip to your local hardware store and talk to someone there. Maybe JB Weld?

I was going to say an Epoxy adhesive from your local hardware store. You'll need to perfectly strip/clean the two bonding surfaces firstly. You could use Duct tape to hold them in position until cured. Some heat from the sun or a hairdryer will aid the cure time to be faster.

Fixed!!! I didn't have to remove seat, I soaked tabs in degreaser, and used dremel to grind off glued on fiberboard--also used it to cleaned out small grooves. Used utility knife to score fiberboard backing, used black marker to outline faint previous indentations for exact placement. Checked JB weld website--not so good for plastics. So I took tabs to hardware store and guy suggested liquid nails. Used duct tape to hold still cured. Had to manipulate backing around till everything snapped into place. Hope it holds.

Liquid nails. I've had good results with that with various applications.

If it doesn't hold, I wonder if some RTV type product or E6000 would work.

Jack Russell I see?
