I suspect they have used the trumpets from their normal CSL replica. I'm not sure if these are an exact replica or 'improved'?

I will ask what they have used in the prototype and if there are any options.

Increasing the size of the trumpets isn’t necessarily going to improve airflow. I would say the shape of the trumpets is more important than the size. BMW likely did quite a bit of flow analysis on their design. Arbitrarily changing shape or size could very likely deteriorate performance.

Karbonius confirmed that they are using the trumpets that they put in their CSL airbox. And I agree with Michael9218 about changing the design not necessarily being a good thing. Potentially/ideally you would want to do a bunch of testing to make they they are flowing better and I just can't see that happening. Sorry!

If possible would I be able to be added to the list?

I was also wondering if the cost may come down based on the amount of names surpassing double the original 20. I'd be very happy at the price given initially though.

To the chap asking about changing the size of the velocity stacks, I watched a youtube video with some guy who was custom designing his own velocity stacks for a Murcielago LP640, and it was crazy the effect of the different size stacks had on power. I just wouldn't have thought it would change that much.

10 minutes 10 seconds is where it shows the difference in power gains.

thanks for sharing. Turner and a couple of other vendors redesigned the velocity stacks.

It would've been equally interesting if they had also experimented with the shape of the bellmouth. I've seen studies in the past on bellmouth shape and it can also profoundly impact air flow.

The Turner velocity stacks are shaped with a slightly wider and smoother bellmouth than the OEM velocity stacks. I dyno'd them back to back and it only made about 3 more HP over the OEM shape.

Very interesting. I'm not going to lie extra power would be nice but I'm pretty much solely buying this based on the sound.

Going back to that LP640 video the chap is a bit of an engineer and modified BMW S54 ITBs to fit the V12 of the Lambo. So he probably could have added some type of carbon airbox similar to the BMW V12 from the McLaren F1 if he had wanted to.

Just heard back from Karbonius - they were on holiday last week but intend to test the prototype this week.

I got a message from them last week to say that they got caught up producing products for other customers. They didn't provide an update on when the testing will be done, so we're just waiting now. Sorry!

Karbonius has test-fitted the plenum and made a video, as well as videos of the same car with a completely stock intake and the same car with their CSL-style intake. I've posted the videos below. Karbonius are on holiday until 30 August but provided a few comments when they sent me the videos:

"I just sent you 3 videos,
1- OEM airbox, you can see the results in dB , minimum 72,2 and maximum at 5000 rpm 106 dB
2- CSL airbox , minimum 79 , maximum at 5000 rpm 130.2 dB
3 -Karbonius OEM style airbox, minimum 74,3 , maximum at 5000 rpm 118,7 db.

Sorry for the quality of the video, maybe doesn'tīdo justice comparing with real sound, but I think you can hear the difference between the 3 boxes.
We have 2 dB more in the low measure and +12,7 dB in the revolutioned measurement . The Karbonius OEm style airbox is not as louder as the CSL airbox, but clearly louder than the OEM one.
We checked on the car and drove few kilometers, and we could hear clear the sound of the box, specially between 2500 to 4000 rpm, driving at few rpm and putting gas in 4th or 5th gear is easy to heard."

I also asked a couple of questions:
Q. Will the price be the same as originally estimated (1,200 euro)?
A. Yes , at the moment we will keep the price, but Iīll confirm you when we will make the 2nd unit!

Q. How long will it take to put into production?
A. We can start the production in middle of September

Awesome! With an open intake filter it will be even louder I'm sure. I plan on using my eventuri with this. Should be epic.

Agreed. Half way to the CSL volume with the full airbox still in place is pretty good. An Eventuri could get the rest of the way there.

I am in!

One thing to note is that under load, the prototype box deflects, would you ask if they can fix that?
