Initial impressions:

I received the DKF parts and had very little time to work with them before I was scheduled to bring my car into a fabrication shop for the half cage project I had been working on.

I had enough time to remove my current exhaust system and install one DKF configuration. Since we had we had all heard the clip of the Race mufflers with the Street resonators, I decided to install the Sport mufflers with the Street V2 resonators

So here are some just some quick notes, not yet a full review. My car is supposed to be done Friday. Once I get it back I will resume testing configurations

-Quality fit and finish are better than other exhaust system components I have installed to this point.

-One of my favorite features is the race clamp the DKF system uses at all of the flanges in the system. These little clamps make the installation/un-installation much quicker than any other system I have worked with & create a great seal between flanges.

-I was able to remove/change the resonators leaving the rest of the exhaust system fully intact. This is a plus because it is easy to switch back and forth between cats/straight pipes/resonators depending on needs (ie emissions testing/track days/sound)

-Sound. The only sound testing was performed while my car was up on jack stands with suspension removed, so I was unable to drive and get the full effect. That being said, my initial impression is very good. The Sport muffler/Street V2 resonator combo had a nice deep bark and rumble. It reminds me of the sound coming from the engine bay of and S54 powered car with the full CSL intake and Alpha-N tune. It was not as loud as my RPI set-up, but still retained the raw motor sport burble and pop when quickly letting off the gas that I so love. If it sounds this good out on the road and under load, I think many will prefer this set-up. For my tastes, I going to predict that I will prefer the race.

-I was able to achive perfect alignment with the tips/bumper

Sweet! I also can't wait for more info. That clamp system looks so awesome!! As long as it works well it seems to make things so much more user friendly! Swapping out components will be like changing rims. It might even increase sales because people will be more willing to get a couple options since they are so easy to change out! I also love the weight loss and that they are fully ceramic coated! This is so awesome!

Man, the suspense is killing me. But let's let Chris breath, he's got about 4 things going at once with his car (this, the cage, the gauge pod, fusion power unit, and the warp drive development).

Thanks for answering many of my questions. It's very interesting to see the stepped Section 1. I would love to go with your Section 1, but my SS V2 Stepped Headers have an outlet pipe diameter of 60mm/2.36". It would have been perfect if your Section 1 diameter matched my headers, hehe.

My understanding with stepped design headers to optimize power throughout the whole powerband. With narrower primaries, you have nice low end torque gains, but with bigger secondaries, you maximize high end power. So does this concept apply to your Section 1?

I would be very interested to hear more about the dimensions and measurements of your headers to see how they compare to the SS V1 and V2 Stepped. If they prove to be superior to the SS headers, I would love to purchase a set from you!

Thanks again for clarifying my questions. Based off the latest photos, it looks like you guys made a very high quality system! With regards to E46 M3 interest, how many people would you need to make this worth your time? I am fairly active on M3Forums so I would gladly spread the word about your products to spice up some interest.

Stepped headers optimize top end. I can PM you a link with a dyno of Supersprint V2 Stepped vs. Supersprint V2 (standard) headers. Standard headers have more low- to mid-range grunt, while the stepped are about maximum horsepower in the top end. There's no such thing as an all-around ultimate design. Some designs are better than others, yes, but there comes a point where it's a sliding scale and you must compromise one attribute to gain another. I went the stepped header route, though they are still waiting to be installed.

I definitely agree with many of the things you mentioned. I'll shoot you a PM back so we can further discuss it there. I don't want to detract too much from Diokaef's great thread.

Whereas the exhaust tip placement looks great, they look to be VERY close to the rear bumper. I hope they don't rub too much... or perhaps they can be adjusted a tad.

Did anybody notice something let say interesting about our design side by side with the OEM? is that even found on the best exhaust system out there?

They are but I can't give you measurements until they are out.

The section 1 have to do with exhaust valve size and timing of the exhaust pulse.

Based off the latest photos, it looks like you guys made a very high quality system!

We did not sacrificed quality because of cost. Thank You! for noticing.

About how many people interested to make it worth? Start something there and let see the design is done, just need proto.

I am fairly confident they are 60mm/2.36". This has been advertised by Supersprint and verified by vendors on M3Forum.

Totally understandable about not giving measurements. I am definitely looking forward to what you have to release. I know Burns Stainless makes some the best collectors out there!

Thanks for clarifying the thought behind your Section 1. Your logic definitely makes sense.

I'll send you a PM to discuss potentially seeking internet of the E46 M3 community later today.

wow CFRINE88 sold your RPI, you system must be good ;-) i Read that your new setup is EVEN LOUDER!!! WTF??? lol i need a real detailed review that only you can provide, please pay particular attention to the tune, the alpha n tune we run is insanely sensitive, placement on 02 sensors and EGT must be perfect otherwise you'll start a world of problems for your tune, Which system are you running ?? Look out for the firework show out the rear :-)

can you give me alittle feedback on the the race cat system, Xpipe and Sport rear mufflers??? hows the tone?? hows the drone??? i genuinely will listen and believe your review, your review for me will be my choice of buying or not, not many people on an internet forum do i trust like that......

In viewing this thread I am rather lost. And yes I've searched from several angles, but it brings up just as much tangential information as just going through this 21 page thread.

Is there a post that describes this exhaust as a spec sheet of the product and options that someone could read and compare to other exhausts in order to make their buying decision? It's not an easy task to glean this from a discussion of a cool project (which it is) among friends.
