New VMR 710 on Si Coupe

Decided after 9 years it was time to ditch the stock rims and get some new 710s. So far, love the look and the ride to me seems unchanged (which is a good thing).

The rims came with a small scuff on the very edge of the rim but the customer service assured me it didn't affect the integrity of the paint and shipped me a paint stick should I want to touch it up. I didn't want to hassle with sending them back in so that worked out fine for me. Working with Brandon was easy and he helped recommend non factory size of tires to fill my needs a little better.

Well enough rambling and onto pictures.

Factory rims right after I got the car 9 or so years ago

And the new Gunmetal 710

looks good. I'm in the same boat, held on to my stock rims for 8 years and going to go on some 710's as well.

Thanks for posting, this gave me some assurance to how mine might look.

Nice, the 710s are a great wheel. I had them on my 135i and loved 'em.

Highly recommend. I am very happy with everything still. The car has a completely different look and I love it.

Looks great! Love the 18s. I had V710 19s on my 3.0si and they definitely looked a little big for the car.

Just a question out of curiosity, was there a particular reason that you did not move to a 19" wheel?

I love the wheels and I'm trying to decide whether or not to stay with 18's.

Love that style of wheel on coupe or roadster.

To reiterate what others have said before about 18 or 19's, a mild drop on 18's is perfect with these cars. A 19" wheel looks cool but the ride suffers due to the shorter sidewall.

The main reason for me was that the 18s could fill out the wheel well enough for me, I plan on getting coil overs in the near future so that will help as well.

Secondary reason is the 19s were actually quite a bit more expensive for rims and tires combo. This seemed pretty reasonable actually price wise.

Looks awesome, I've got the same setup in my coupe except I went black (since i'm batman). and I agree about the 19's.
Its funny how something as simple as a wheel change can completely change the attitude of a car.

Tire size seems a little odd, to maintain aspect ratio and same overall diameter it would have made sense to see a 255/35/18 to match the 225/40/18.

Yeah, the 255/35/18 is the factory size. I went with the larger diameter for 2 reasons... first it fills the wheel well a little better and second it artificially deletes the speedo bias making what shows on the dash more of a "true" speed around highway speeds.

I have a friend with an E46 M3 who did the same thing, slightly thicker tire in the rear. His car drove wonderfully, I think he did it for the same reasons as you.
