I'm not knocking this set-up, or the inserts, it's simply questions out of curiosity more than anything else.

I know a lot of folks would find the volume (and drone in some situations) of the REs I have to be bit too much, but I like 'em. And I didn't get the car dyno'd before and after because I was after some subjective improvement in sound that makes driving more enjoyable for me (which they do nicely for me).

Niggling details about flow rates (too much, too little, whatever) or other technotrivia that we're not going to be able to track down anyway aren't the point. If you like your set-up and are happy with the sound/performance (and a great price), that's what matters.
Yeah I wondered the same. But you know me (well you kinda know me, you haven't met me yet, but we'll change that in a few weeks), I'm all about doing things for the sake of testing (which is why I got the resonators installed before going straight to Magnaflow cans, and why I tried to do a Borla system but found out it would require some extensive modifications so I scrapped the idea) so I figure for the low price of those inserts, and the fact that I work across the street from a reputable muffler shop, I'd order these after we do our exhaust fest and see how they affect sound and performance. If I don't like them then I'll just have them removed and we can lay the assumptions to rest.

Can't wait for the exhaust meet though, really want to see how the drone in the RPi's compares to the drone of the RE's and the drone in my system...

I'm pretty sure Magnaflow probably puts as much into R&D, if not more, than these other companies. This is pure specualtion though....
Sound is all personal opinion. I am curious to see how the Magnaflows sound
They put R&D into their general line, not Z4M specific. This isn't a 72 Olds.

This. Magnaflow is a way bigger company than any of these little shops that make exhausts for our cars. They put more R&D into their parts I would bet. And sound is a preference like you said. I personally think the SuperSprint exhaust sounds like shit but some like it. To each their own

It was BMS they used Magnaflow mufflers. As far as the rust goes thats if you get the aluminized steel mufflers. I opted for the stainless steel.

You're correct. BMS used Magnaflow. Found the following in this thread (003Beastcharmer had this exhaust).
"Jose (fabricator/intaller) and Chris (BMS) designed it to be a 3-piece modular system, so customers will be able to order the cans, x-pipe, and scrubber cat-ellimination straight pipes separately. I thought this was a great idea since everyone's needs vary. Jose is sticking to Magnaflow parts whenever possible, because they are high quality and will be easy to source to replicate changes in-house. All the tubing is custom, and in fact Jose has been test-fitting and modifying the clearances and assembly process to ensure that each system will fit together perfectly, every time. The Magnaflow cans will have to be modified because of the angles of the BMW exhaust routing, so basically EVERY single piece in the system is modified in some way."
EDIT: Bimmerguy beat me to it! And I wish we had a set of these coming out to play for Exhaust 'Fest. It would be nice to compare the sound (aesthetic and db) and drone to other setups.

My BMS mufflers will be for sale within a week, I just need some time to take pics. If someone is interested, let me know or check the classified section in the next days.

It's way too loud for my actual setup (ess stage1, CSL headers, BMS x-pipe non resonated and BMS mufflers). My E70 X5 oem alarm system starts when I start the Z4MC at 10 feet...

But it was decent before I installed the CSL headers. But I prefer the power gains of the headers vs noise. So I'm going back to stock mufflers. I also need to respect 92DB noise level restriction at track / LCMT.

Here it is for the 11th time - I LOVE MY MAGNAFLOWS!!!
