6th gear and 5000rpm? you must have some nice open roads to go that fast! hahahaha

I heard that an engine that breathes better (exhaust or internal mods) will make it more efficient, and allow it to process more air that the supercharger builds up under pressure before the intakes. Might not be the best explanation, but you can google around for something better.

I will be installing the radium fuel pump kit this week I hope. Aeromotive fuel pump though, not walbro. Should be quiet. Not sure if just a fuel pump would need a re-tune, but since I did my pulley too, I will definitely need a re-tune. The VT2-500 injectors should be strong enough.

I can already tell its a different animal, I've done a few half-assed pulls to 6000rpm. There is a little bit of hesitation now, but thats a tuning or fuel issue, so I'm not worried. It kind of builds more like a turbo now..

Wish I didn't have the recent breakdown with the hydraulic tensioner, its delaying the tune budget

I also removed the meth pump and tank from under the hood. Going with a stealth layout. Not sure if I posted pics yet

We got stuck in removing the tank. It looks like the whole rear end has to drop. The fuel tank is resting on the end of the differential in the middle. How the hell do you do the job without removing the whole rear end?

I'm stuck with removal of the fuel tank. You can see in the pictures that there's a side access panel, but it doesn't look like the fuel pump comes out when you remove it, because its all sealed up. The fuel pump looks like its further inside the tank, with only access from some sort of top panel which is accessible when you remove the fuel tank.

Now go see how much shit we removed, and the only thing left to remove is the differential. So next step is to drop the whole rear subframe, unless someone can tell me that removing the big bolt from the differential that holds the connecting piece that goes to the driveshaft, will give me about 3" of room. I don't want to just remove it to find a spindle, or worse, not put it back on correctly.

Right now, the only thing holding the fuel tank on is that damn differential.

If I stick my hand in the access hole, I can see the pump. I'm afraid of breaking something trying to pull it out. How is it held in place? I mean after you remove the ring, which we've done, and pulled out whatver that sealed plastic piece is. How do you reach in and remove the fuel pump?

According to TIS you can get the fuel pump out through the service portal next to the propshaft.
It says that you only have to remove the exhaust&heat shielding.

I don't know if there's an opening on top of the tank. (don't think so; TIS says the fuel pump assembly goes through that hole)

yeah I spoke to George, who did this job, and he said the same thing. I wasted 3 hours taking too much crap off, and will waste 3 more putting it back on. AFTER I figure out how to reach into the gas tank to remove the fuel pump. Its definitely not like the E46 M3

in terms of the power how are you feeling about pushing the stock intercooler so far?? considering upgrade???
how does the blower sound with the added boost???

Are you talking about the grime in the first picture? I didn't realize its a leak.. hmm.

I can't comment on the stock intercooler because for safety reasons, I haven't pushed the car hard or even past 6k RPM after the new pulley. Don't want to run into fuel issues, so this is why the fuel pump is going in. I think the stock 500 intercooler should be fine for the job honestly.

I'm going to get my meth injection working soon anyway, plan to run winter blend windshield washer fluid for cost reasons. This way I can always have it filled, and be around 35% meth to 65% water mixture which will have no problems evaporating in the Florida heat year round.

The supercharger is noticeably louder at idle and low RPM, that high pitched whistle sound is heard up to 20mph. Its a nice upgrade. Can't comment on the effectiveness of my supercharger pulley coating yet, as I haven't pushed it. I might upgrade to a mechanical hydraulic tensioner for more...tension, if I see slip.

very helpful stuff thanks! Looks like the fuel pump has a tab on the bottom of the housing that clicks to release, and then it lifts up. Fingers crossed. Will see it Monday or Tuesday night

It can also be axle grease coming from the inner cv joint (torn cv boot, damaged end cap or something like that). Or both.
But a good opportunity to investigate; the underside should be completely dry of oil/grease. If oil/grease can get out, dirt can come in (at least with the cv joint possibility)

look past the grime to the circular section thats actually flush with the diff case, you can see the oil weeping down the bottom of the differential case. this is a common leak point on the z4m Diff....
