Anybody have a clean after market cup holder?

My driver's side cupholder is broken, the arm won't close to grasp the cup. I went to get one and they're $70, seem like a lot for a barely functional cup holder.

I've seen cupholders on ebay that wedge between passenger seat and console but not sure how effective they are. Does anybody have a clean looking solution or am I stuck paying $70 for something that will surely break again?

The Ultimate Cupholder is the consensus around these parts.

Second that. I got one a long time ago and have never looked back. Still going strong 10 years later. Maybe this is a good time to pick up a second for the passenger side...

Quite possibly yes! It's good to see you're still in the fold too

Yeah, I still check in every now and then. It's just more fun to watch the children fight in the political section of the forums

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but Ultimate Cupholders seem to be pretty okay.

I guess I’ll “third” that, then.

I have an Ultimate Cupholder on the passenger side, that I use for my tall, stainless steel coffee mug on commutes in to work.
I’ve also broken and replaced the stock drivers’ side pop-out holder. It’s not good for things with much mass, but is fine and convenient for a can of Coke.

Here's why I like my ultimate cupholders (both driver and passenger side) so much.

The cup/can/mug pretty much just sits on the floor so the cupholder itself doesn't support any weight. Which means that any up/down motion on the cup is limited to whatever up/down motion that the car is doing. The OEM dash mounts tend to flex/bounce/shake which magnifies the motion on the cup. Hitting a pothole/RR tracks/etc with the ultimate cupholders results in a virtually no potential for splashing compared to the dash mounts.

The dash mounts are fairly shallow top to bottom so it's easier for taller items to tip - the ultimate cupholders are nice and deep so even tall 1 liter bottles can't tip over.

The dash mounts consist of about eleventy billion little plastic parts which can vibrate/squeek/rattle when being used (particularly over rough roads). The ultimate cupholders are just a one-piece rolled stainless steel unit with a nice felt lining. The only possible noise would be a squeek behind the center console where the SS tab goes up (but I've never heard anything from mine).

So - I guess that's a "fourth" (fifth?) for these things.

And I would recommend if you do go with cup holder suggested you can then buy blanks for the broken cup holder so you don't have anything there to make rattles since it doesn't work anyway. I have two blanks in case mine break. Not buying the OEM cup holders again.
