cupholder in 2006 E85 fixable?

Hello, recently the drivers side cupholder ratchet arm (the one used to size for the cup) stopped locking in place. Does this require a replacement of the entire cupholder assembly or is this fixable?

thanks

Those cup holders are not even worth bothering with IMO. Break way too easily and are not well located. I bought a couple of Ultimate Cup Holders that I use instead.

thanks for the reply, that was going to be my next step, but just in case this was easily fixable I would make the attempt.

Actually, I think the OEM cupholder is a very ingenious design - it can accommodate drinks of varying sizes and it folds away neatly. Its fatal flaw is the fact that its made of material that breaks too easily, and its placement where it is commonly struck by an occupant's knee when getting in or out of the car.

Aren't replacement OEM units only $50 or so, and held in place with a couple of screws?

That figures! Even correcting for the exchange rate, its costlier in Canada.

I may be mistaken, but I think you can also get a blank panel for folks who have completely broken off the cup holder. But in your case, you may still be able to close the thing so the dash looks neat and tidy.

@Huz-Z yes, they have blank panels for the broken cupholders.

Also, +1 on ultimate cupholders. First thing I bought for the car when I got it. Best solution.

I ordered up the ultimate cupholders to solve this problem. The driver side latch will be the next owners problem should I ever decide to sell
