2003 Z4 3LITRE BST 5BSR Open Circuit Please help
Hello Everyone
I bought a z4 in Palm Desert and drove it home to Canada. The dealer disconnected the battery as he did not want the battery to go flat. On pick up here is what it coded 5BSR open circuit firing circuit safety battery terminal Presently the airbag light on. Code is 5BSR open circuit firing circuit safety battery terminal. It would not clear. I then attempted to bypass with a 2.3 ohms 2 watt resistor and this allowed the code to be cleared but it comes back later on re start. I am puzzled as why the bypass allows clearing but does not fix the issue and it comes back. I checked the BST and it was not showing any resistance. I than bought a used BST that I confirmed has 2.3 Ohms resistance coming from the BST. unplugged and out of the car. I am still not sure why the bypass is a permanent fix for some but not for me. Any ideas. I cannot get the car inspected and registered in Canada until the light and problem is fixed. Barry Calgary Canada |

As far as i the airbag light can only be reset with the Air bag reset tool... i know that was at least the case with the E46.
Here is a link to the Peake SRS reset tool. https://www.bimmerzone.com/category/..._SRS_Tool.html

Here is one of my posts on this issue...
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.bimm...4857&=1 There is a connector/connection to the BST next to the battery. The connection gets dirty/disturbed and the resistance increases and sets a code. In another post a few years later when the issue returned I had to move the male pins slightly to make a better connection.... and when I say slightly I mean a minuscule adjustment in the direction towards the female pin connection...
