Anyone tried to add usb power to that aux in panel ?
http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19293
I want to attempt something like this but I dont need a 4 port usb hub. Also dont like to use another cig charger in the back panel.. If i grab a usb header, is there anything behind that aux-in panel that I can splice and supply power to usb ports to charge iphone, etc ?

But you would still tap off the existing cigarette lighter ? just wondering if there is enough juice to support both sides.

I don't understand why you would want to make it so complicated when there's a simpler solution => http://www.cellphoneshop.net/usbcar.html

I would want an aux outlet that can also charge while playing tunes.

The cigarette lighter circuit is already fused for 15 amps - something like an new iphone is going to draw maybe a maximum of 1 more amp. You can get a pretty compact voltage converter for that kind of low amperage, if you want to keep a 'flush' appearance for another USB outlet on the lower panel.
Another option, as you've already got 2 other USB devices you want to use concurrently, is to just add a 12V powered 4 port hub like this one. It would look after all your USB requirements and get rid of the plug-in adapter you're using now. Car USB Hub |

sounds good..
I'm thinking of using 2 of these . All I need is 2 holes for cable to go through, screw it to that aux in plate from the front. http://www.kramerelectronics.com/pro...el.asp?pid=666 and in the back, setup something similar to the z4 post above
