Immediate shift improvement after using RP Synchromax

I know there are some older threads on this topic but I did my first transmission and differential fluid change today and experienced a noticeable improvement in shift smoothness, especially the 1-2 shift. The multiple jack points are handy and made the lifting job pretty straightforward. Anyway, it’s even more fun to drive than before....everything I had hoped for.

How many miles on the oem fluid? Im tempted to change mine out as I had an incredible result on my E 46 330i with the RP syncromax. My Z4m is real graunchy when cold even tho its a super low mileage car. My only concern is the M uses a ZF gearbox rather than a getrag.

I just purchased the car with 29,xxx miles. Based on the service history, I think this is the first time it's been changed so let's call it 30k miles on the oem fluid.

I changed my fluid a few weeks ago with RP and noticed smoother shifts as well.

Car has 128k on the clock and the previous tranny fluid had about 60k on it.

Did this on my 128i and sometimes I feel like my shifter action loosened up too much and got a bit "joysticky" and other times I think its great. The Z4M is way clunkier and needs more muscle than the 128i with OEM fluid so I'm guessing the result might be better with the Z4M gearbox and diff fluid changes as there's so much room for improvement without hopefully getting too smooth.

Sometimes I think muscling this gearbox is part of the experience other times it feels a bit much. The 1-2 shift grind is definitely not welcome period anytime although these days I am much better at consistently driving "around it".

I know thats all a bit wishy washy but those are some of my thoughts.

I know what you mean. I do pretty well when I’m just driving this car and when I drive it hard. However, on days when I’m driving our GTI and then switch to the M, I almost have to relearn my shift technique.
