How is the weight distribution with this build? Were you able to keep it fairly balanced with the extra 200lbs on the engine?

According to our calculation the weight distribution should be about 50% again.

The engine is completely behind the front axle now.

We will check exactly when heater, wiper and other heavy parts are finished.

Wow! Congratulation to the build!!

Is there a build thread somewhere? Might on a German website?

I have in my head, when the M54 quits his job, LS7 will take his place.

Steering question

Hi i have just started to build a z4 3.0si circuit car swapping the motor for an ls2, the only foreseeable problem is the electric steering. do I need to swap it out for a hydraulic system or is there a way around it, what did you run with? I'd appreciate any help you could give me.

I will post this in its own tread when I'm able to.

Thanks

I'd LOVE to read more about that. Standalone thread or ban, your choice mate.

I took a hydraulic steering gear out of E46 and connected it to the Dodge pump, but it is not running perfectly.

Best solution would be to install complete hydraulic system from E46.

thanks for the reply with regards to the steering, I'm going to exhaust all avenues on the oem steering first before swapping it out.

I certainly respect that you chose the hard road and did something that has not been done before. Well done car looks great.

Thanks

You are my hero!!!

I'm searching for a while if someone already did a LS X swap in a Z4. You are the first one who is really doing it.

Do you have more information about your project?

E46 or z4m power steering system is the way to go. My buddy is having issues in his e36 m3 with an ls1 swap with the ls1's power steering pump and e36 rack....seems the best solution is going back to his s52 power steering pump

Thanks for responses guys probably not the appropriate place to discuss my car though. I will start a thread of its own at some point but not allowed to start my own thread as this is only my 3rd post. I only registered to ask Eiky how he got around it.
Apologies to Eiky for thread thieving
