ESS updated parts

firstly i need to send some LOVE to ESS.... i recently enquired about making a brace from the s54 kits, i found during track work the bracket was just flexing way too much for my liking.... ESS responded with they are working on something a good while back. This was something i have been trying to look at myself over the years but never found the time to continue with.

Fast forward to this week! I drop another email to ESS and they announce their bracket is done and dusted for "race applications" they have released their s54 bracket and what a lovely piece it is!! ESS kindly sent this to me FREE of charge for being a long standing ess customer , fedex'd it to me within 3 days...i was blown away and These little things really remind me why i choose them all those years ago!!

anyway onto the item, its very sturdy, looks lovely and really compliments the s/c and original components, I've yet to install it as I'm away for a friends bday part but rest assured this bad boy will be install by the weekend finish with before and after shots!!

Any ESS owners that are tracking this is a must, see that belt perfectly aligned, reduce the stress on the mounting points that are carrying significant extra loads... Well done ESS!! now.... erm.... i just need to work out where it goes

When I was installing my new kit from ESS, I did question them about the amount of for and aft flexing you could produce with hand pressure. Unhappy with this, I just made my own brace to keep me happy. We'll see how it holds up when I finally get the build done!

Good to hear! I'll ask them about it, as the previous owner of my car had the supercharger crack the bracket mounting points... and he wasn't the only one that had it happen. It's great to hear they sent you a solution.

That is awesome for a company to do that for a long-time customer.

in the middle of install and damnnn lol...... this simple little piece is a nightmare to install ( on an already installed kit) !! I'm going to need to drain the power steering setup and remove the PS tank :-( i just cant get my hand under their properly and im risking loosing the bolts etc!!

the car is in bits currently while i get a fluid extractor sorted .

slightly frustrated!

Ok.... installed...

What . A . Nightmare!!!!

Good luck to anyone putting this simple piece on!! wow.... LOL. i had to remove the power steering tank and drain off the fluid this made a nice mess, luckily i had protected the area enough to cover all bases, this brace connects to the oil filer housing and the spare mouting location under the s/c, i dropped the nut so many times and once particular heart in mouth moment where the washer sat on the openings for the alternator!! one slip and it would have fell into the Alternator unit... honestly doing the valve clearance was easier !!. However if you was to install this fresh on a new kit it would be a breeze as you could route your pipe work differently. Make sure if your installing one of these you really mask up the area, you will damage some of those pretty anodised pieces REAL quick as it just so tight! ( i sadly managed to cause a few nicks here and their but it simply couldnt be helped ) My P/S pipe work is alittle stretched now so ill be keeping an eye on it, truth be told i never want to do that again!!

anyway its on and has *significantly* (80% better) reduced the forward and backward flex i could always replicate on the supercharger bracket which admittedly needed a decent shove to get the flex, their is still some however as you'll never eliminate this totally with a unit this size, but literally its all but gone!! VERY nice piece from ESS!!. Excuse the messy pics their was still some oil present that had made its way into my working area, all cleaned up now and ready for me to add some fresh oil!

Thankyou VERY much ESS, excellent service and the brace is doing its job perfectly!

any supercharged owners picked one of these up??

cant stress the difference in the flex.... anyone hard using their s/c kit please pick up this race brace for the blower, you can grab the blower and barely move it now... this has got to make a difference in the extremes when the belt can or may jump or slip.

I contacted ESS for the brace and just got their reply.
It is on stock and they are asking USD 145.
Its a bit expensive for just a small brace but as this will make the SC set up stiffer order will be placed!

that is expensive but its worth it...

ALL new kits are now shipping with this piece and id guess the new kit price reflects the new upgrades anyway.

we've all seen and experienced the flex on the bracket with no brace... it needs to be addressed imo.
