Ordered H&R 29119 Springs for coupe

Hi, well I finally got around to ordering the springs for my coupe. Delivery is two weeks. So hopefully they arrive before my car is out of the shop. If not I will be doing the install myself and re getting an alignment afterwards.

Any tips, tricks or any input on the install? Any info is appreciated.

Cheers

Nice pick up; you are going to like it. Anyhow, do search for DIY on Z4M. There are some really nice writeups from those swapped out theirs (sorry, i would do it for you but i am on my crabby iphone).
Youu will want to put about 500 miles for the springs to settle before do an alignment. Also, make sure the alignment shop put weight on the driver side during the alignment process (i believe about 150lbs.)
Good luck. It is a very easy job!

spring install is very easy. I used e46 install, only difference is the front shock assembly. Our front is more like a e36 i believe. Definetly get a friend to help. makes thing way easier.

Also guys, I am initially going to be using my old shocks, until I can get the missus to approve some new bilsteins, what model would be a good compliment for these springs?

Obviously I'd like them as cheap as possible. ; )

Hahaha... I am flattering myself as well. This is the spec/requirement from BMW; I guess BMW has a bunch of skinny engineers working for them

Please take some before / after picts. I'd like to see the effect and measurements. I've read that without the rear spacer, you will be a little "front high"...

I have the same springs and I didn't use pads. Nor am I riding front high. But still running stock shocks and they are working just fine.

My opinion on the H&Rs is that it barely lowers the front, and lowers the rear to satisfaction WITHOUT pads. With pads, the car is barely lowered. I don't mind a little rear squat.

Hmm... Not sure, I haven't heard of many peeps applying the spacers, otherwise I would have heard of it before. Strange as the h&r site says it drops both front and rear by 25 mills.. There are other ones available that drop by 30 mills (diff part number) if you add a 15mill spacer that leave only a drop of 10 mills???

I would go with coilover, do it right from the beginning.

spacer has nothing to do with drop. It will just hide the wheel gaps in looking wise.

ok guys, just to sort this out, can some of you post a few pics who dont have rear spring pads installed, and just confirming we have the same H&R springs (29119-1).. i am getting rather frustrated here as with international shipping to dxb, those extra big spring pads will set me back another 100 US... so not really that happy atm..

id like to see some side on shots with and without the spring pads..

i will be staying on the stock 228 rims, so 18's all round.

If you're picking up the tab, I'm sure OP would also.

question about the bilstein struts, there are sport and there are the HD struts, i think the HD struts are the only ones designed for the z4m/c, but it mentions that they are for stock springs.. will these be suitable for my H&R lowering springs?

cheers

Well, despite the fact that you haven't heard about it before... Without the 15mm pads, you WILL have a negative rake angle whether you like it or not. Check the wheel gap front and rear in pics, and you'll see it. Doesn't bother a lot of folks, but it's there
