Thats what they said 30 years ago about the chevelles and road runners that were all over the place.
What I did say was in 2006 the total production of M coupes was 380 and in the last 5 years 10% of cars sold are red, so for the coupes = around 40 cars. I traded an 06 Z06 in on the M and it is a nicer car to drive and handles better. For muscle hard to beat 435 hp and it sounds like a harley with 4 wheels - just the same - theres 10,000 of them! I'll keep the M and I bet in 10 years its worth more than the vette would be. All that said, I'd keep it regardless and surely didnt buy it as an investment - still - should have kept the 1968 stingray I had - who knew! |

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...1&postcount=23 The vin numbers there are the M Coupes that went to Canada and the United States (1815). Euro M Coupes vin numbers are not part of it. |

Granted the cars are rare in numbers. But being rare and being collectable are not necessarly the same thing. Most of the Road Runers, Challangers, Z-28, et al were popular at the time, and a lot of folks wanted them. The folks buying them now are the one's that had them back then or wanted to have one back then. The price is up there because of popularity and now rare. Our cars aren't particularly popular, and face it most people that buy BMW's don't buy them for the driving experienice that we buy them for, the buy them to "be seen in".

I agree. Estimating that there are only 430 or so Imola Red M Coupes is interesting trivia (and for the most part, guesswork), but that's about it. And as far as rarity, I'm betting Sepang Bronze would beat it. in the US. Overseas where Individual colors were available, it's a whole different ball game. Fun to discuss, though.
