Yeah, I must have missed it while reading from my phone
So looks like as long as we keep our motors from being TOO boosted/crazy, we'll be okay. I wonder if there's an option for Stage 0.5 @ half the cost of Stage 1 Last edited by mfanatic325; 03-13-2012 at 04:30 AM.. |

The owner of the car seems to be level headed. There is nothing worse than the feeling of having your car down with no clear resolution in site. Hopefully things will work out in a timely manner for him.

I wonder what makes the few blown motors blow. Just simple carelessness during building process? Or just because these were sleeved (not sure if that changes the complexity of the build at all)? Anyone know the total number of blown motors from HPF builds? Hah

compression is completely not the issue here, infact the engine is being rebuilt high compression to regain that response, whats in serious doubt is the sleeving process, the actual build..... Pro-efi has tuned many stock internal cars to silly power, hell his own one was insanely abused and was making crazy power, they knew it would blow with nitrous but wanted to see how much it would take, from all the info ive picked up is just how strong the s54 is in terms of internals, the tune has to be bob on, but also the build needs to be bang on also...... WHEN i build this motor im going high compression all day long.....

Learning so much about the s54 which is great, were also learning that its pretty similar to the 2jz in a few key areas.....
bizarely the longest lasting cars are the straight up bone stock cars boosted out..... rays car is making 650rwhp, bone stock motor, high miles and is being beat on REGUARLY!!! this car was beating GTRs at the runway event....

I'm with you beedub, after reading that thread I'm horrified at the behavior of HPF. Let's hope they at least try to come through for the guy in the end.

What I have taken out of all this is it appears the S/C route is a lot safer. I don't think I have seen any threads about issues on an SC car (even the 500hp builds). Sure the turbo route makes more power, but is it worth the headache?

Vt2-550 is definitely a stop point for me..... luckily the way these centri blowers work the car is never under constant boost, hence the motor is relatively unstressed... But lets no mess around, its still boosted... But careful research proves reliable, werre talking 20-30 S/c z4ms now??? how many s54 failure due to boost on those??? NOT ONE!!! Says it all imo..... vt2-550 with meth/water will net a nice 500rwhp and not only will i be over the moon with that but ill have a supercar killer.... for me now 550 is so minor in terms of parts i may as well go the whole hog and install it..... ALL in all im in love with my s54... what an engine... look forward to building mine and making it bulletproof.

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooo much more than afew bucks on rods/pistons/block, very very very silly..... And i for one am really dissapointed with chris and HPF as i have alot of respect for a man that builds a company like hpf from nothing,,, why on earth he'd kill his hard earned rep for this blind action is nothing short of astounding.....
