I'm shocked...

It fits. And may actually work.

Tried to fit the rear wheels with 275mm wide tires up front just for sh*ts and giggles (well, that and someone asked me if it's possible to fit 275mm tires up front and before I make an @ss out of you and me, I decided wtf let's try it)...AND IT FITS.

I'm shimmed underneath on GC coil overs and running about -2.5º of camber. I think at -3º the tires will definitely clear the fender. And at -3.5º I can easily run ET25 on 9.5" wide rims so the tires would sit more square on the rim.

See for yourself. Don't judge me on my pajamas...

No, not yet. This, for now, is purely an academic exercise.

Got a used set of 275/35/18 Maxxis Victra RC-1 from a friend. Will mount it and get the car aligned at first convenience. Will take car to Thermal in March for shake-down.

Stay tuned.

Once I get it fitted and aligned I'll take some measurements to see how far the scrub radius has moved...Then in a few weeks I'll get to test and see if the compromise(s) made is worth the extra grip the wider tires up front affords.

I tested my 18x10 +25 ec-7 on the front with 265 z2 to get an idea for my street set up....it's crazy how much room most leave unused up there haha

Square shoulder on the Z2s, like the old Star Specs? If so that's also a pretty meaty tire plus ample sized wheel.

Suspension mods? Use?

Also, any comparison of Z2s to Star Specs (might best be a new thread so we don't clutter up this "Look how big that thing is and it fits in there" thread. )

The z2's are just as square/meaty as the original star specs...that set up won't really fit, I was testing for reference...on my car the fender would hit the shoulder of that set up...a different offset and a 9.5" wheel the tire would work with a bit more camber...I'm at about 2.5* up front

My new "street/stance" wheels are 19x10+25 up front...I'll be adding the turner camber bolt kit to get the front camber closer to 3* as well as running a narrow tire

Holy crap it works. It actually works.

I put the 275s all around, drove it to the alignment shop to put more negative camber into the front (and toe-in a little rather than out...more on that later). When it's all said and done, the 275s look like they BELONGED. No rub (on street driving, although the alignment guy assured me there's zero chance of it rubbing the fender), tires don't "stick out" like riced out racers, and with -3.5º of camber it doesn't look too bad...Just barely noticeable while sitting stationary.

Unfortunately due to the front strut nuts being taken off and put back on multiple times I had the same problem with the bracket on the camber plate, one of the bolts snapped off during the installation process despite my reminder to the mechanic to tighten ONLY to 18 lbs*ft. So the chances of me bringing it to Thermal this weekend is gone. I will be taking my Hyundai to Thermal instead, and take the MZ4 Coupe to Chuckwallah in 2 weeks.

Side effect I noticed, whether it be due to the change in scrub radius, or the change from slight toe-out to slight toe-in, or the significantly wider front tire, is a reduction in steering feel. Even with the wider, stickier RC-1, the front steering feels a little bit "numb" compared to the 245mm wide NT-01. As in there isn't as much feedback as there was. Actually it was a lot like when I switched from 225mm front to 245mm front street tires, the steering just doesn't give that nimble, telescopic feel to it. We'll see if the toe-in will fix some of the front end stability at high speed (120+, turn 2 on the Cal Speedway oval, not the best of times to experience wobble through the steering wheel) and the vibration through the steering wheel while under HEAVY braking.

Will post pictures this weekend.

Sorry. I'm old school. I don't like handing out my phone number. And I prefer the anonymity of the Internets.

Whatever you may like to know, I'm sure it would be best if the rest of the community hears about it too.

Took a quick shot before I left the car at The Mechanic for a broken suspension bolt (don't worry, car's drivable on street and doesn't affect operation, I just want it replaced before I take it on track at Chuckwalla in 2 weeks).

Maxxis RC-1 275/35/18 all around on OEM rears (18" x 9" ET30), -3.5º camber front, -1.9º camber rear. Both front and rear toe-in about 2/10th of an inch. Front on 2 washers with E36 camber shims, and top has Ground Control camber plate from the Track/School kit. Car sits only slightly lower than stock (probably no more than 1/2").

It fits PERFECTLY.

Surprisingly, with the new tires and camber the car tramlines WORSE than -2.5º camber and 2/10th toe-out. Either the additional camber up front is causing more of the tramlining, or the sidewalls are super stiff compared to the Falken RT-615K, or the increased scrub radius is causing it to tramline more.

Will give y'all some impressions of the Maxxis RC-1 tires after Chuckwalla.

When Kgolf31 put his set up for sale, and someone was willing to buy the fronts, I snatched it up knowing it would fit...I test fitted my rears up front for sh*ts and giggles a few months back.

The rears up front also gave me extra clearance for big brake kits. I can probably go to a 14" kit now without running spacers.

I am very jealous. The limit of non-M is about 255 R-comps!

Anyone here try rears on the front with stock spings? I've guessing as they are wider than Hack's coilovers, they'd be hitting, but I haven't tried. Just wondering if anyone else has.
