BMW M performance shifter.
Has any one try to install the BMW M performance gear shifter? I know that the BMW performance aluminum/leather one works perfectly, but any one here knows if is possible to use the carbon fiber M performance one?
Also how does the Performance one feels compare to the OE M one that comes stock with the MZ4 if any one has experience, would like to know. Thanks.

I would recommend the current F10 M5 shifter. It is lit like the OEM, but with LED so a much brighter look. Also is a ZHP style knob so it is a great solution and upgrade.

ive got the alacantra shifter, its by FAR the best mod ive done. it shortens the trow from the original stick by a lot and its weighted perfectly. I cant recommened it any higher. Makes you feel like your driving a diesel 4x4 with the original shifter. :P

I agree with you. The m5 one and the ZHP one are great, I like the size ans the LED but they still have that OE looking, that is why I was trying to change it a bit more like the Performance one or the M performance one. I agree tough the m5 one is a really nice upgrade.

Is the one you got the bmw performance one? Hard for me to tell if there are different versions of that one. If it is I agree the size and looks are great. I am just curious if there is a way to fit the M performance one carbon fiber one.

Also have the shift knob for awhile now.
I found it to be a better feel than the ZHP I previously had, just a personal preference of course. |

I think this one is it. Is urs the Carbon fiber M performance one correct??? I Like the carbon fiber looks on the side but just curious is it really that gray the non carbon fiber part, Or did you change something? The OE picture I saw before looks more black than in your pics.

In reality it's a few shades darker than that (it's about the same as the gray color in the carbon leather trim itself). I'll pull the car of the driveway for wash in a bit and will try to get pics in natural daylight. |

I had to remove the plastic ring that came with the f30 shift boot and re-use the stock one. I used some glue to fasten the alcantara like the stock was attached and then I just trimmed it with a scissor around the edges.
It wasn't hard at all and I'm very very happy with the result! The white stitching matches my white coupe. |

Finally Got my M performance Knob! Feels much much better than the OE and the looks are just extremely way better than the OE or the ZHP. Recommended! Unless it is mandatory for you that the knob has light.
OE Knob! First Step is to take off the OE one from base. Second step is to take both knobs with their bases out of their ring since the M Performance one is made for the 3 & 5 Series and the rings are different shape. Glue the new Alcantara base to your OE ring. Takes a little of patient to do right but is worth it and you can enjoy your new one M Performance Knob.
