Key fob remote

Does my key fob remote have a changeable battery in it? Do they just snap apart like others? I don't want to break it if there not serviceable.

Yes has a rechargeable batt inside, no does not come apart. Yes recharges while driving. It depends on your definition of not serviceable, what is the issue with it? Try charging it up first and remember you have to program it to work first.

My experience (assuming all E86's have the diamond shaped key head remote):

Does the fob come apart? Yes. But its tricky, so your best plan is to have another new body to swap the internals into, as breakage is a real possibility if you don't have a deft touch. Your key will look brand new then, too. Body can be found for around $10. Cutting, depends who you use, but usually not more than $10 or so.

Battery Inside? Absolutely.

Rechargeable? Yes (but like all rechargeable batteries, it doesn't last forever)

User replaceable battery? Depends. It's soldered in. So if you have the skill, sure. If not. No, then.
