Introduction and hard time deciding!
Hey everyone, my name is Jay, just wanted to say I really like this forum. It's not as busy as e46fanatics but I like that just fine. Seem like good folks around here!
The reason I am over here is in September I bought an 04' 330ci coupe. I love the car. Its a steptronic however. As much as I love this car I just don't feel like it "fits" me. I am a bit of a lonewulf, I have just a few good friends, no girl at the moment. I'm always alone in the car. I am single and I like it. My e46 just seems a bit "old" for me. Don't get me wrong, the e46 is great. I can see someone taking it out to a nice destination, great car for trips ect. Thing is I'm looking more for fun than practicality. Also the e46 is gorgeous, I like the Z4 from every angle except the front, which looks long and plain to me. Also the headlights look sad instead of "mean" to me. But its growing on me. I'm 30 btw. I just don't feel like the e46 fits my life at this moment. I have been having a hankering for a sports car, and the Z4 looks to be a great car. I love BMW's, also considered a boxster S but the interior is just so cheap looking. Sound system is said to be crap. So that takes me back to the refined Z4. If I get a zed it will be the Z4 3.0i, probably a 2004, like my car. Anyway that was more of a background as to why I'm here than a question, but feel free to chime in on your thoughts about an auto 330ci vs. manual 3.0i Z4. I will be around, looks to be a lot more mature board than e46fan. Thank goodness! lol. Jay |

Welcome to Zpost!
The Z4M is the one to choose if possible (especially since they can be picked up for a steal). But you can't go wrong with a regular Z4 either Both cars will put a smile on your face every time your drive it, the M just makes that smile slightly bigger. Are you thinking coupe or roadster? |

Before you make up your mind look at a 2004-2006 E46M3 with manual transmission. You may find that it is plenty sporty enough for you and your image while retaining all the practical qualities that you enjoy with your 330.

Welcome!
Literally ANY Z4 will make you smile as you drive it, from a 2.5 through a 3.0i, 3.0si to an M. Naturally, the more powerful the car, the more it affects your smile. For example, you get a silly grin and an occasional chuckle with the 255 hp car, hence the "si" designation. And with the 330 hp car, you may begin to laugh maniacally as you drive it; hence its "M" designation. Cheers!

The 3.0si is a fun car. I like it over the 3.0 for obvious engine reasons but the 3.0 isn't a bad choice, either.
I don't consider E46's old but maybe I'm partial because I made my way thru 3 of 'em. I actually came from a '04 ZHP coupe but made my way into a Z4M. The ZHP is a great car. I'd love to get mine back and add it to the stable but I doubt any owner after I took as good care of it. Personally, I'd add a ZHP to your list. A little less common than the E46 M3 and the nasty sub-culture isn't there.

Ultimate dream car would be a Z4M coupe OR roadster. I love the way the coupes look, I love the drop top of a roadster in the summer.
Thing is I really only have enough money for a 16,000 car or so. I can sell my 330 for around 15,000 probably, it has 59,000 miles and is in great condition. If I could get an M in anything I dont think there would be a choice, Id take it! I absolutely LOVE the Z4M. What are they running nowadays? Low 20's? I wish I had a few thousand more! Oh, no comparison if i could get an si either. The only thing holding me back is switching for basically the same motor i have now with the 3.0i. |

If you think Z4 headlights are sad, you could go with custom boser style fenders.
Makes it look really aggressive And z4's are 250lbs lighter than 330ci's. You should go test drive a z4, see if you feel its enough power. Haha @ last comment. Im on E46fanatics its fun! |

Drive the Z4M and nothing else will do. The E46 is nice, but if you really want something unique that's a true sports car, it's Z. Unless it's really high in miles low 20s is out of the question.
