Does the combination of price vs. miles and options look too good to be true for this Z4M coupe? I would have expected a price much closer to $30k. Any other thoughts?

Its in SF, CA. The used car market is saturated and everything is cheap in order to sell, so it's a great place to buy and drive back home

Seems to good to be true to me. Edmunds prices it more like 32k-33k for those miles in that condition.
Those photos were not taken in the San Francisco Bay Area or Norcal for that matter. Very fishy....

Ah ha! My folks used to live near Phoenix, the rock formations and "greenery" looked like they were indigenous to that area and reminded me of AZ in general. (We travel through the Southwest a lot....)

Man... its sad that you can tell a scam by the fact that its well articulated letter. Real sellers give you just enough info, because they know you want the car. This guy is giving you the garden hose of niceties.

You should reply with the following:

Dear kind Sen Hurni,

I am exceptionally pleased with the manner of your written word. The kindness that you've shown, gives me the utmost confidence in your person. You should know that I am glad to have your assistance in this transaction!

I'd be happy to use E-Bay motors to finalize our agreement. I too am traveling and can not be present to obtain the vehicle. However, I can arrange for a dear friend of mine to present payment. He will need only to know your address.

Kindly reply with your physical mailing address, and he will be happy to send a good faith down payment of $5,000 USD post haste.
