Feeler: Looking for Stromung or Remus mufflers - Z4M

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
I am considering a different set of cans for my Z4M. I have had the RE Diablos for the last year and LOVED them, however with the addition of euro headers I am not sure I will be able to comfortably daily my car given how loud it is now

If anyone has a set they are wanting to sell (or work out a trade deal for my Diablos) let me know!

There's a Supersprint Powerloop for sale in the Classified. Depending on your budget, I switched from Strumong to Powerloop for better tone and better looks. These are recorded with catless headers

HTHs,
Thanks for the info! Now I have another option to consider if I cannot live with my current setup

Funny, I have Stromung, and have loved them. But just added euro headers and now the combo is a bit too loud for me. Keep in mind I am a 40yr old HR manager, so may be tolerable to others.

I may post something about trading my stromung for someone's Remus soon. Really curious about how loud Remus would be with euro headers.

I think on a factory header car, the Stromung is ideal and probably my preference over the Super quiet Remus.

HTHs,
Thanks for the comparison! How was the in cabin low rpm drone/vibration between the two? That's my biggest dilemma at the moment, with 900 - 2,200 being the only reason I am considering a change...

Being a high revving motor the S54 is, sometimes lugging the motor gives that buzzing drone when it's at too low of a gear. This gets amplified with aftermarkrt exhaust. That's why for some ppl they say absolutely no drone and for the others, they said there's slight drone between a certain rpm for any AM exhaust. The discrepancy is usually how they drive and what rpm they usually live at, under normal driving circumstances.

These 2 exhausts are the most civil and drone free for our car. other choices are eisenmann sport, arquay, kks ti. To me, Remus almost doesn't do anything in term or tone and looks. It just sounds a bit (10% max) louder than stock but exactly the same tone across all rpm as stock. One of my friend had the Remus and he regretted after hearing mine.

HTHs,

Unfortunately about 65-70% of my daily commute is between 35 - 40 mph, so either I'm close to 3k rpm in 3rd, or just at the top of the drone at 2,200 rpm in 4th :/

FWIW I have only stromung cans and the speed range you speak of drone is the only time I feel my exhaust is loud enough for me (its illegal to modify exhaust in my state so I try to keep it on the DL). If drone in that range bugs you, you may want to shy away from Stromung and get Remus. Mind you I have no drone in 3rd, but a little throttle in 4th and the whole car buzzes at city speeds.

I was happy with the noise level they produced with the US spec headers. Unfortunately these with the euro headers coupled with the VT engine mounts and RE trans mounts made in cabin noise and vibration at low rpms just too much for me. I put my stock mufflers back on in the mean time, and while now I can hear more of the eventuri intake, my car is now too quiet as I am missing some of the noise from the rear. I would agree with the statement by ZeD4Mr above with stromung or power loops as my options to satisfy what I am looking for sound wise

I agree! I saw these earlier (about a week and a half ago) and they were listed at $1,100. May be worth it to wait and see how low they go...

I bought my Stromung's second hand with 7000 miles on them for $700. The guy was in a frontal accident and they had to write off his Zed. The cans were still in perfect shape though.
