Fabspeed O2 bung spacers with inline-mini CATs

an interesting idea from Fabspeed.
They have a universal O2 bung c/w a mini CAT to fool the O2 sensor.
If i'm understanding this correctly it would let you run straight pipes or resonators and the mini CATs would look after the O2s

....anyone heard about these???

Quote:
We've taken our O2 spacers a step further. The factory ECU compares the readings from a pair of oxygen sensors to measure the effectiveness of the catalysts. When a high-flow cat or catbypass pipe is used the exhaust gases reach the O2 sensor faster and uncleaned, leading to high chances to throw a CEL. Our O2 spacers retract the secondary oxygen sensors from the direct flow of gases, restoring the balance that the ECU requires when using aftermarket catalysts or catbypass pipes. The high quality built in catalysts scrub the exhaust to further reduce the chance of a CEL. Two fitting options and the two piece design allow for adjustment to get best possible fitment and results.

Definitely interesting. I assume they could be threaded into existing 02 bungs as well?

Yes, I would think so, if there's room

Ordered before they're made illegal. I won't install them until July at the earliest.

So I was thinking of ordering these for my new headers that are currently on order. Can anyone tell me if I should buy the 90 or 45 degree?

It depends on the orientation of the header bungs and clearance.

Also, if there is a bung already there, then you may be able to screw straight in w/o the angle adapter.

There are bungs on the headers but I'm not sure how their position would relate to the body of the car once installed. I guess I'll just wait till they come in and order afterwards.

I passed this onto a buddy of mine that knows way more than I do about BMW things. He basically said cats need heat to work, and that usually comes from exhaust flow. It might help enough to correct the signal a little bit but he's skeptical of them being a complete fix. I assume he's stating this because there's no flow at all in these. Any real world testing to back this up.

good point....

With the small size of these, I'm not sure if it would take much to heat them up convected through the pipe itself.
I would think someone like Fabspeed would have tested before going to market with them.

This look very interesting to run straight S pipes and headers without cats, but I wonder if the Z will pass smog check in California x-x
