For sale: REAL carbon fiber trim. ///Ms

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
This has the sport button cutout, I will add pictures in a week when I get home. It is flawless 2x2 carbon fiber trim, all 3 pieces.

Selling it because I requested 1x1 but there was a mixup and I got 2x2 instead.

The carbon fiber job cost me 1100 and the trim itself 500, So I'm looking to either get $1600 outright or possibly trade trims + cash for either carbon leather or wood (not aluminum). If you are interested in trading we can talk about maybe 1100 + your trim.

First pics are with flash, so I took it outside without flash for a natural picture. Looks more like second in person.

I will add pics when I'm home next week (I don't expect anyone to jump on this until then just putting the word out ahead of time). Yes real as in real, as in actual carbon fiber with a gloss finish. And no there are no flaws and yes it is a full replacement.

If this is good CF and a full replacement, this is a really good deal. The CF leather from BMW for all 3 pieces is around $1800. I paid $1000 alone for just the dash pieces. GLWS.

Yea I didn't quite think about the cost of the trim which was like $500 or something, so the trims cost me like 1600 so far. More with shipping actually.

I just wanted 1x1 dammit.

I would like to be on the official list. If not, I will be looking for someone's interior plastic trim so I can send off to get this done as well. They won't wrap metal.

I've heard a lot of composites guy say they wont wrap metal due to adhesion issues and delaminating.

Absolutely ....if they're using Polyester resin instead of Vinylester or Epoxy.

I did get a reply back that they will take the metal 'skin' off to do the wrap. So, he can use my trim afterall.

Still want to be on this list. This route may be less expensive.

Ok...hold up ..........a pro with proper experience will refute what your hearing if he's worth his salt at all.

Even if someone takes the time to de-skin the dash of the aluminum and glue.....now your STILL left with a cast aluminum part to cover.

Makes no sense. I'm just trying to save you the hassle of this train wreck....not slam your guy.

Just ask them to buy and use Epoxy products if they are seriously worried about de-lam and properly prep/texture the surface prior and all will bullet proof.

I don't think he is aware of my specific trim, even though he says he did one recently. Most likely the abs trim. It's MAcarbon by the way. They did my 996tt interior and their product is, by far, more superior. I have the eas carbon in my 325xi and it's splotchy, pitted, and you can see tiny air pockets throughout the weave. Not the MAcarbon I have. Exact same age and in pristine condition.

Sorry if we jacked your thread, but I have been learning a lot about CF treatments here. Still awiting your pics and officially in line behind Z4M if he decides to pass.

FYI I am working on full CF replacement trims for the z4 right now.

If anyone says they are going to "de-skin" the trims to wrap it they are full of it. Good luck trying to separate those without damaging the face.
