FS: Pair of Cobra Suzuka Pro GT (Modified for Z4M Fitment)

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
The Description
This past weekend HMS Motorsport finally finished installing a pair of Cobra Suzuka Pro GT seats into my Z4 M Coupe. I went with these seats because the material used is FAR superior to the similarly priced (but nonetheless more expensive) Recaro Pole Positions in velour. These are the slightly wider GT version which offers a great deal more comfort driving around town while still offering excellent lateral support. These are the updated "PRO" version that adds stronger material on high-wear areas and better looking material on all other parts.

Conveniently, these work perfectly with VAC Motorworks mounting plates.

The Reason for Selling
So why am I selling such an awesome set of seats? Well, while the seats are absolutely phenomenal and provide the best seat for the money in my opinion, I'm thinking they may be a bit too aggressive for the dual-purpose nature of my car. If I had a second car, these would be staying but the Z4MC is my only car and I do drive it quite frequently for errands and whatnot. Make no mistake, these are very comfortable on the street (maybe even moreso than stock) but ingress and egress is obviously more tricky.

The Sales Pitch
Now here's the good part. The benefit of buying these seats from me is that all necessary modifications to make these fit have been performed by HMS Motorsport who are, by far, the preeminent safety experts in North America. Since the Z4M has a small cockpit, filing is needed on the outside part of inboard "thigh" area and outboard "ear" area on each seat. You can be comfortable that no material was removed that will compromise the safety of the seats in any way whatsoever and since these modifications have already been performed the installation process will be much less cumbersome for you. With these modifications performed, installation of seats is truly a DIY project. Without these modifications, a reputable shop with knowledge of safety tolerances is a must.

The Cost
$1450+shipping. Local pickup available in Boston-area.

If you are interested, please send me a PM as soon as possible.

Pictures
My apologies for the terrible cell phone pictures. My real camera wasn't charged. If you require better pictures, let me know. These really are brand new. I've sat on them, literally, twice for a grand total of maybe 40 miles.

I was about to say I can't believe they fit when the standard ones are mms from touching in my car.

Ha! Yep. It's a tight fit for sure but with removal of material in the proper locations they went in just fine. And with HMS doing the work, given their insanely lengthy experience with all things safety, I am comfortable that no compromises were made in terms of safety.

Hey just out of curiosity... how did you address your airbag light?

Hahaha. Fair enough. I know there's a mysterious European p/n that allows for the dealership computer systems to plug in and perform the necessary retrofit programming. I think it's a part for the BMW Performance Seats. Check out the thread here:

Picture what Cobra Suzuka Pro seats look like and that's what they are. I literally have driven only from HMS's shop back home in them so saying they're new wouldn't be an understatement.

That said, I know pictures are necessary and I'll try to get to my car later this evening. Still stuck at the office...

JCz04Bimmer, this is a little off topic may i know how you did your harness bar?

Would you happen to have photos of it on your PC?

Good luck with those seats though, they look awesome and all the best for the sale!

I had it custom fabricated by a local cage builder here in the Boston area. Reasonably priced and very well thought out. The center console compartment opens and the trunk, with all the interior pieces installed, shows zero evidence of there being bars installed. I'll try to hunt for some pictures when I get home.

In the meantime, this sale is a go! No longer a feeler. If you are interested, please contact me ASAP. I can have the seats shipped out from HMS Motorsport.
If you don't mind me asking who was the cage builder and what was the ball park cost?

Only if you buy my seats.

JK.

Chris Howard. He's located about 15 minutes from Framingham up here in the Boston area. He's a Miata guy and has done TONS of cages for that crowd. PM me for his number. Price is $700 if you have the car completely gutted (think race car gutted) and you don't have it painted. He charges $250 for the interior being in and $250 for painting. Price may fluctuate a bit based on material costs and time spent on your specific car. I had MOST of my interior out but still got dinged, quite fairly, for still having the interior forward for the bulkhead still in place.

Now seriously. Buy the seats.

Thank you for your reply. I had my harness custom fab, but the bar is high from where the slots in the seats are, and it is not according to what Scroth specified for being safe.

May someone find your seats!

Thanks and yeah... we mocked up the seats first so we can figure out exactly where the cross bar needed to go for the harnesses to work. Best of luck!
