Some pics from another weekend @ Homestead [7/16/16] Update

[7/16/16] Update:
Ran the car last weekend with Hawk HP Plus pads and the squared wheel setup. Car felt very agile and smooth with all the small upgrades. Turn-ins were a lot more sharp and braking zones got deeper. It's true about the noise levels on these pads they really do squeal but the initial bite you get from them is great. Didn't push the car too much as it was in the mid 90's in miami last weekend. Track was also extremely slick from the get go.

Friend took some videos as well from his phone. Not the best quality but any criticism on driving techniques are welcomed.

Finally got some lap times as well:
Session 1 Fastest Lap: 02:03.8
Session 2 Fastest Lap: 01:58.8
Session 3 Fastest Lap: 01:58.3
Session 4 Fastest Lap: 01:56.6
Session 5 Fastest Lap: 01:57.0

1st Lap 4th Session

2nd Lap 4th Session

My dad's 99 M3

Last year I did my first track day at Homestead Miami Speedway. Only mods to the car were Bilstein PSS9 coilovers (Damping set #5 all around). It was a learning experience for me about my car as well as the track.

This time out I switched to damping setting #1, installed a Supersprint muffler and control arm bushings.

I had made accommodations for a square set of Apex ARC-8's (18x9 et42 with Toyo Proxes 255/35) as well as Hawk HP/Plus pads (still weighing options if this is the pad I really want), but I couldn't get them ready in time due to delays in shipping etc. So I ended up running my stock 330 ZHP wheels (BMW Style 135).

Since I couldn't get the pads in time I had a brand new set of OEM rotors and pads laying around so my dad and I threw those on.

Review: I ran the car two days, most of the beating was done on Saturday. Besides improvements to my driving techniques, I found the car handled beautifully and the body roll was significantly reduced running the harder setting. Unfortunately I did not have Harry's Lap Timer App

I'm still a noob to this but I had a great time learning as well as seeing the improvements to my car. I'll be back out there in July hopefully with all my desired mods ready.

And on to some pics....

You'll love the HP Plus pads on the track. Great bite, but they maintain good modulation too. I ran them for the first time on the track at Daytona (Full TUDOR course) about a month ago. Very demanding on braking and they had zero fade.

That's the good part. On the street they still behave well, but they are the noisiest set of pads I have ever run bar none.

Thanks for the info. Did you run those on stock rotors? These would be dedicated track pads so noise isn't much of a concern.

I have R1 Concepts cross drilled rotors in the front and solid (OEM copies) in the rear. I have a set of slotted rotors for both ends that I ran on the Daytona infield course with Hawk Street/Race pads, but the HP Plus with the current rotor set performed just as well.

I can't run the slotted rotors for SCCA autocross and it was getting to be a PITA changing out rotors for track days.

They're still noisy on the track. Everyone will know where you are on the track without having to look, just by listening for the brake howl.

I ended up getting these and installed them on my stock rotors this weekend as I'm going to homestead again this coming weekend. Also went ahead and installed the brass brake pins.

It's true these things are pretty loud but I can already feel a difference with the initial bite. Looking forward to trying them out this weekend. Will update.
