Muffler

I have been kind of disappointed with the sound comming out of the oem mufflers. For such a high performance car the sound is not what I would expect. On my Z3 Coupoe 2.8 I had installed a Magnaflow and I really like the sound coming out it. Personally I think a lot of the mufflers are way over priced.

On Ebay I see a brand called Remus and it says it will fit the Z4M coupe. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Does anyone know what magnaflows fit the Z4M Coupe?

I also have been tempted just to go to the local Muffler shop to see what they would recommend. I really don't care if they are shiney Stainless Steel.

Any Suggestions? Also can anyone advise me on a header for my Z4M?

Thank You
Paul

Most of us agree.

Remus is a nice option.

Here's a place to start your search.

That's a great thread, even with all the "reserved" posts in there! Just kidding Finnegan...I know you've been busy AutoX'ing and what not.

Seriously though, great place to start, and I can vouch first hand for doing a custom set up from a muffler shop. Just be prepared to dynamat or sound proof your trunk since most systems not made for the M drone like crazy. I'm still fine tuning my custom system, but it sounds amazing and even when I add up all the parts, labor, dynamat, and custom DKF hangers I just ordered, I'm still coming in just shy under $500...

Thats exactly what I did, I have a Flowmaster on my supercharged 3.0i and I love it! You dont have to spend $500+ on just a set of cans, almost any muffler will fit just talk to the muffler shop. Usually they're happy to do custom work!

Yup. GFeril's system sounds great inside and outside!

Yeah, gotta clean up that thread. Once I finish relocating my parents I'll have some time to do it.

I think the only maganflows that fit (without having to hack up the stock pipes) are muffler part # 11365 with the 2 1/4" pipe. Get two of these, have a shop weld a flange on the back side, tips on the other end and bolt em up. Should be able to get it all done, parts and labor, for $400 or so. Sounds nice and mellow, nothing crazy, minimal drone.

IIRC, it's not exact but that model muffler will work. I think I got the 2.5" muffler first and the shop couldn't use it.

If you ever want to make the drive, I have Rogue Diablos installed on my M. They are on the loud side.

Yup, they are a bit loud. Until, that is, you're in tunnel with either E for Effort (RPIs) or Mfanatic (JVT headers, Supersprint Race + Supersprint X-Pipe).

I have the Remus cans on my Z4MC with the Euro e46 M3 headers. The car is just a little louder than stock and there is no annoying drone. I would call this an OEM+ upgrade- those looking for more sound may be disappointed.

I've got some Magnaflows with some badass tips that were hand-made at a muffler shop up the road for me. I will be selling them soon and they will fit any Z4M.

I loved my Stromungs... Minimal Drone, proper sports car sound. My OEMs sounded like a Camry, lmao

If you go with Remus try Bavarian Autosport as they have a better price than EBay- $1200 shipped.

I have come to the conclusion that I may have to pay the man for the muffler/sound that I want. Can those of you who have upgraded their mufflers help to point out a respectful price for a muffler. I feel sure I can find a reasonably priced muffler without having to go to the bank for a loan. I am in the market for a Remus, diablo, SS, stromung, ect...
Thank you

I might get electronic muffler bypass valves this month. Would be a great way to have stock no-drone sound for cruizing and commuting, and loud and annoying when you want it

Could be worse - our 09 Accord sounds like a sewing machine.

Yes but what are the best online sites to buy them at? Where do fine the electronic bypass? We used to do something comparable when I was a young whippersnapper. With a knob & throttle cable.

Funny. I always thought the engine on my old Integra sounded like a 1950s Singer sewing machine.
