Key only completes part of top-down sequence

So the last few times I tried putting my top down with the key, it stops with the top halfway down. I need to start the car and press the button to put the top down all the way. Is this a problem with the key not holding enough juice to complete the sequence? I haven't noticed which key I am using to do this, but I can check tonight if this happens with both of my keys.

The key is probably losing communication with the car part way through the sequence. That's one of the problems with the OEM remote setup, you have to keep the key depressed and sending/receiving a signal through the whole retraction sequence or it stops.

Put in a automatic roof mod gizmo like the Gaptech - then you just need to initiate the roof down (or up) sequence and it completes without further communication between the key and the car.

Shoulda jumped on one of those Gaptechs when you had the chance - huh Twix!!??

But assuming WestCDA's theory about lost communication between the key and the iBus is viable, try this: Touch the tip of your key to your chin and keep it there while fully depressing the remote button throughout the entire top deployment sequence.
Bet it works - just don't let anyone see you doing it!!

Garage List
I have the smartTOP one, same concept as gap-tech and works great. Install was really straight forward and 100% reversible.

Really did not need to start the car to complete, Put the key in the door counter clockwise 3 times and the top will go down, turn the key 3 times clockwise and the top will go up

I was just tweaking Twixboy for recently passing on (when he had the chance) one of the two Gaptech's that I virtually gave away as part of my everything must go sale

Hah, yeah maybe I should've gotten it. The extra 15 seconds it takes me to put the top down turns into a 3 minute wait to get out of the parking lot after I get off the train with dozens of people who are all rushing to their car to get out first.

Ditto on that... Picked one up last week and it's a great addition... Some other interesting features on it too.
