hit gradual speed bump at too fast speed
hi guys, on the way back from the circuit (Yas Marina), and my head in the clouds, i hit a speed bump (very gradual easy type), not the super car killing abrupt ones.. but nice gradual bump.. yeah, serves me right, should have been paying attention to where i was driving..
anyways, i hit it doing about 65, where normally you'd probably take it at 30.. (kms) the car launched,(abruptly) but didn't bottom out or anything, same with the exit.. no bottom out, but scared the crap out of me.. as i wasn't expecting it.. (most of the other speed bumps in the area are the flat paint ones) i pulled over to have a good look, nothing broken, or bent (that i can see) , shock mounts at the front are fine, (cant see the rear ones, but driving over other speed bumps doesn't sound like anything is cracked/bent/loose) and the car drives the same on the way home, as it did on the way there.. no oil on the floor this morning… besides a alignment, anything else should check? cheers

Sounds like the struts did their job. If it didn't compress the shocks enough to hit the bump stops then I don't think you should worry.

I think you should check it out at 80mph now.

I think Vanne should invite the whole gang here over to hit this thing at 65+ mph!! Beers and burgers after!! Woohoo!!!
(But seriously. Glad the car wasn't damaged Vanne - if you're like me, the Z is irreplaceable).

a very gradual lift of the floor won't hurt the car or shocks, its the abrupt landings, crashing into the bump stops or bottom out the car that hurts things, if it landed all square without a major bang don't worry about it and just pay more attention in future :-)
