Advice on changing your License Plate Lights

Has any one had difficulty change their license plate to led? I bought a pair on eBay and I do not know if I am doing it wrong, or the fitment is not correct. The guarantee "Direct replacement with OEM quality and fitment" and I test them no error codes which is good, LED quality is much better but I cannot put them back in their place. Has any one had problem or had an advice for this?
I am afraid of breaking something.

This is the ones I bought

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191481688659...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Wanna to take pics when done but it is incomplete at the moment.

I believe I bought the same set - zero issues installing - plug and replace. Snap right into place.

I bought the exact same ones as well, the light looks incredible at night and REALLY refreshes the back of the car. Makes it look a newer model without the nasty yellow lights. Mine snapped right into place with no problem and have been there and working great since last July. Good luck.

I had the same problem and had to use a dremel to trim the plastic but it wasn't too hard. They looked really nice after I got them in.

I have WeissLicht LED light and didn't have problems with fitment but i think i did bend the tab a little to get it fit more snugly. So i think it is OK to trimmed a bit off if need to get it fit.
This is one of those mod that we will never get to see while driving the car

I just replaced the bulbs, pull it out of the T10 socket, confirm polarity is correct before installing the holder back into the mount.

Looks like you received a complete assembly which might not be the same sixe as the stock one.

Do you have to wear clean nitrile gloves when handling LED lights like you do with halogens to prevent skin oil from contacting the bulb?

Shouldn't have to. Obviously don't slobber over them but they're fairly bullet proof. The reason you do gloves with Halogens is they are so hot and anything on the glass becomes the failure point as it concentrates the heat.

The stock E89 led license plate lights fit and work. There is a tiny little tab inside the plug area that you need to chip out and they fit and work. Cost me $20.75 each.

Part # 63-26-7-193-294

Definitely not. LEDs barely heat up at all, and the lenses are soft plastic, not brittle quartz.
Contamination on the quartz concentrates the heat which makes the contaminated part of the glass expand more than the glass around it, which causes internal stress and can crack the glass.

Yes, installed OEM 1 series lights in my car. Similar to the E89 lights mentioned above, you need to dremel out one small plastic tab and then you can install exactly like oem incandescent housing.

I bought these years ago and they snapped right in.
Snap/Snap ... done.

Gives the car a nice clean "just washed" look at night, even when it's dirty.

Result looks good at night, and I would not mind people looking at my plate

Too bright, imo - I think the halogens have a more natural look.

While it looks cleaner, the last place I want any extra light is my license plate

If you want the look without the cost, buy blue coated halogen bulbs. Looks white, but no so bright. That is what I did. Or buy T94 wedge LED bulbs to replace the stock filament bulbs in the OEM housings.

I agree with all this, I don't understand why people want to highlight their license plates, it's not like the license plate is attractive. I can see wanting to change to a more white color, but not so bright. A lower power LED or blue halogen would be less obtrusive. If there's a flood of light on the ground behind the car, then there's more light then needed. Now brighter backup lights, that would be a useful mod I'd be interested in.
