OK wait... how come my 2004 3.0i has leather door cards? (two tone, black leather at the top / bottom / armrest, and dream red leather insert???)
The rest of the interior is standard fisher price plastic. Was there an option to just upgrade the door inserts on non-M cars? |

That sounds nice. I guess I thought if you got the red inserts you didn't get the rest wrapped in extended leather. Mind posting a picture?
I have even thought about buying red door panels to see if I can swap the inserts and keep my extended panels. |

Looks great with the carbon fiber. It is quite nice, but probably not an option I would chose to pay 2700 for.
I only wish the guy that bought my car originally would have chosen the carbon fiber trim and an upgraded stereo with Bluetooth and sat , sigh... |

if i understand correctly after having spoke with an interior upholstery guy, the reason the entire dash isn't covered in leather is because of passenger airbag deployment and safety requirements. it's made of a hardened foam material tt's suitably light and blows out safely in the event of airbag deployment. this is also the reason why it will be difficult to get it upholstered in alcantara or leather as the shop tt does this can be held liable in the event of a serious accident and the airbags fail to deploy safely and correctly.

If you have BMW assist in the car, you should have BT.

what a great thread. I was afraid i'd like the EL option as much as i do after seeing these pics.
If I could check a magic box and have the following interior features added to my car right now, i'd do: - EL - Homelink - Hidden V1 w/ display inside rearview mirror

Big bump.
Just purchased a 2006 Z4M Roadster with extended leather. This post helped immensely in me identifying the car had this option vs. the dealer who did not. Bonus! Many thanks to the OP. |
