DIY wheel repair; Wurth Silver Wheel Spray or 1Z Einszett Silver Spray Wheel Paint
Any comments by users on color match? I've read through searching that the Wurth is pretty much an exact match, but Autopia and Autogeek sell the 1Z product along with the Wurth Clear Coat as a kit and claim it is an exact match as well. Thanks for sharing any prior experiences with either one.

Sorry I don't have any feedback or experience, but I did just see an article on another kit from Bav Auto. It looked like a lot of time and patience would be required to get it to look spot on. Personally I am too lazy and impatient for that. Would love to hear from anyone that has tried it.

I've been there, done that. Way too much trouble IMO.
The sanding and filling with bondo isn't too bad, but the painting is a mess. I found it pretty difficult to get a good blend of the silver and, when I finally did, the clearcoat was very difficult to apply evenly. Ended up taking it a body shop and having them lay on a layer of clearcoat to even things out. That said, the color match from the Wurth paint actually came out pretty well -- you certainly wouldn't notice it unless I pointed it out. These were on BMW style 135 wheels though, not the Z4M 224s which I believe are a slightly different tone. |
