AFE Intake, does it do anything?

I've searched, but it doesn't seem to be a common mod around these part. Turner's website shows that AFE Claims a 10 hp or so gain...anyone have results that were consistent with this?

I have one. From what I've read it doesn't do anything performance wise. +/-5hp maybe. It does sound excellent, though! (Some have said that it sounds "fake". Not sure what they mean by this, since it is indeed making the sound that it emits.) Many opt for a GruppeM. I probably would have gone that route if the AFE hadn't been on my car when I bought it.

Never seen a dyno, some claim it actually loses you a couple hp, but several (including me) have it purely for the sound.

What does it sound like? I have an RPI exhaust, can you hear it over that?

You may want to try your search again and use the keywords "AFE INTAKE". Very common mod with plenty of reviews/debates on Zpost

I am waiting on mine to get to me, can't wait. A horse or five lost is not an issue to me, the sound and enjoyment factor of me whipping my beast top down is what I am looking for. Can't wait to hear how it sounds in conjunction with my stromungs.

When you get it installed, please share a sound clip. I just put my Stromungs on last week and I am also considering AFE/GruppeM.

I have the AFE intake as well. I love the sound of it...it sounds so good. The only downside that I experienced was a slight engine hesitation at around 2200-2400 rpms in 2nd and 3rd gear mostly (that's when it's most noticeable). I never had that issue before I put the AFE on...some guessed it had to do with the Mass Air Sensor...but I never did get it sorted out. Just learned to live with it..but it does bug me. Feels like a tiny bit of turbo lag...which is bad given it's naturally aspirated! If anyone knows what this is, please let me know!

I'd be interested in a system for "cold" air intake.
I was stuck on the freeway tonight and DashCommand said my intake temp was 106°F at an outside ambient of 81°F.
I don't know how the stock system picks up that kind of heat.

That can be a normal spread during a warm day and slow moving traffic. With the AFe and RPI scoop you can see quicker recovery to lower intake temps, but the net average drop in intake temps with this configuration is only a few degrees F.
