Add power outlet in storage compartment

Anyone done this before? I wold like to add a power outlet in the centre storage compartment so that I can plug in cameras, phones, etc and keep them concealed while they charge.

If it matters, I have an '08 Z4.

Thanks

should not be too difficult, i'm sure you can just piggy back off of the current lighter wires

I was wondering about pulling it off of the light in the storage compartment. I think that should work but was wondering if any other thoughts.

Thanks

Bump.
Did you ever try this?
I'm considering it also... suppose the safe way is to run a wire from the cigarette lighter.

Ron Stygar once did this, I recall seeing a write-up.

It's probably just as easy just to use some fuse taps for this job

Found it. I keep forgetting the battery is in the trunk. Make this easier vs going to the fusebox/or existing cigar lighter.

Yup, did it just fine. Ran the power right from the battery with an inline fuse. Worked great!
