Staggered 19s on 2003 3.0 Sport, will I rub?
Hello all. Fist time poster here. I have a 2003 Black/Black 3.0i Sports Package that I've owned for about 3 years now. I have done nothing to it since I purchased it and I've decided to give it a new pair of shoes... 19 inchers!
I searched the forums extensively and I couldn't find any definitives on whether or not my steup would work... so here it goes. I ordered a staggered set of silver/gunmetal Miro m6 Replicas (surprise surprise eh?). The specs are: Front: 19 x 8.5 Offset ET 35 Rear: 19x 9.5 Offset ET 40 I'm considering buying the following tires: Front: 235/35/19 Rear: 235/30/19 Currently, my wheel/tire combo is: Front: 18 x 8.0 ET 47 225/40/18 Rear: 18 x 8.5 ET 50 255/35/18 Does anybody have any similar setups on their non-M (yet sports package) Z4? If so, how does it handle? Any rubbing? I'm asking b.c the guy that ordered from said that out of all the 19 inch m6 replica orders he placed for z4 owners, only 1 had rubbing problems. Perhaps this was b/c the vehicle was in an accident and something was out of whack in the front, or they had an aftermarket suspension which lowered the car too much. I don't know, but I figured this would be the best place to ask. When it's all said and done and if hopefully no problems arise, I'll post some before and after photos. Thanks, Chris |

I think I answered my questions by reading other posts similar to mine. Sure, the rims were different, but it seems that similar dimensions with respect to rim widths/offsets/tires specs were given, and my conclusion is that they will be fine.
Again, I'll post pics when everything is done. |

I currently have a staggered set-up, but with 265/30/19s in the rear. My Z is lowered, but was a bit lower before changing my shocks. I've never had any issues with rubbing, except the fronts rubbing against the wheel well when I had my stock shocks on dropped springs. Your good to go in my opinion...you can even go wider in the rear, 19X10. Good luck and post some pics!

Yeah sorry guys, I typed in an error when i mentioned the back tire specs - i'm looking to get 265/30/19 in the rear. Thanks to all that pointed that out, it shows that you took the time to help. Much appreciated.
On the offsets, I now wish I ordered a higher offset. I placed an order for these rims and the shipment didn't arrive at their location yet, so I still have time to change the order with respect to offsets. It seems that maybe higher offsets would do my car some good and eliminate any potential rubbing? Like, perhaps, 40 offset in the front, 45 offset in the rear? Zuendi, when you say that the rubbing goes away, do mean that eventually the rubber tire would get worn away so that there's nothing left ot rub? Thanks for your help guys (or girls). |
