Hey guys... Just to provide an update... I am 1 track session down and 2500 miles of driving... Still not a single thrown code...

Johaness and I have been in contact for a couple months with his setup.. Apparently he is having a couple codes thrown with the j style bungs and oem wiring (routed out of the valve cover cover, not extended). I am interested in hearing what is causing the issues... So watch his thread for updates..

Great thread!

I have done this same modification. The 02 sensors can be "unwrapped" from other wires and harness to give the required length without cutting them. My car has the OEM length sensors behind the secondary cats.

And no codes whatsoever? Without any aftermarket tune shutting the O2's off? The shop followed the 'unfolding / relocating guide to a T and I still have codes

I still get periodic codes too despite the tune which reportedly turned off the secondary O2 sensors.

When I do this I will run the euro software. What codes is Johanness throwing? Sometimes its simply an O2 sensor going bad.

Kav- What occasional codes do you get?

I threw the following codes:

2C7E - Oxygen sensor after Cat trim control
2C93 - Exhaust gas temp sensor plausibility

So I go back to my shop, have them shorten the j-bungs (so that the end of the sensor is as close to Euro-stock as possible) and double/triple check all the wires run. Clear codes.

Drive home - nada.
Drive to get beer @ 6:52pm - CEL!!

I'm officially done with this until someone can point me in the right direction. Running headers w/o software and no codes seems like a lottery shot if you ask me. If anyone has any further ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone have experience with these codes ?

Could it be a bad o2??

I thought it may be the 02 sensors so I replaced both with new ones and still get periodic codes for insufficient secondary cat efficiency. I am going to send my ECU back to ESS to redo the tune.

I am not familiar with the EGT sensor plausibility fault code. I would only guess that the sensor placed further downstream would get slightly different readings than in their stock location. Enough of a change to trigger this fault code. Perhaps a tune based on the euro software would be better suited to avoid this fault code. Additionally, is anyone with this exhaust mod running ceramic coated headers? The lack of heat loss through the headers might help avoid this fault code. I am just theorizing.

VERY good point!! I did not think of that one... That may very well be your problem there... The secondary cats may not be heating up in a similar manner as stock....

I am 100% OEM no coating...

I am ceramic coated. You mean because I'm coated, that's the reason I'm throwing them?

I'm more than likely going to go the ESS route and get some Euro-spec tune for my ride.
It makes sense really. I've mimicked Europe 100%, so might as well run their software and then some. What I don't get is how some people are code-free with the same install. I think Jamie (Starscream) is coated, and he's all good. So not sure about that theory. Not sure when this becomes too much of a money-pit of frustration, vs just buying the handheld from ESS and just getting on w/it.

No, the other way around. I was theorizing that ceramic coated headers would help avoid the EGT code. The fact that you do have ceramic coated headers means that ceramic coated headers don't help much to avoid fault codes.

RATED M was agreeing with me on the Euro software comment. Euro software could possibly cure most fault codes due to this exhaust mod.

As to why some have been successful in avoiding fault codes while others haven't is a good question.

Starscream is euro coded. Not sure if that happened before or after headers.

No I'm not,

I do have an ESS tune, but it was without the header o2 delete option as I live in NJ and need the car to pass inspection,

Stupid question, but the connecting thread, minus m rated, is that kav and johanness both are not flashed?
