Engine will not turn over

Yesterday I noticed that after I started the 2006 Z4 and went from park to reverse the engine quite. It did it twice. Then it worked fine. Today after I went into reverse to back out of the garage the engine quite again. Now the engine will not turn over after :readthethread multiple tries.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Hmmm. No starter solenoid click no nothing? If you're w/o a BMW scanner (I think I should sell these since every post lately mentions them), I'd start by checking fuses and work my way from there.

Nuts. Just to be clear there's power (gauges, lights, etc.) and the starter won't crank? (Starter, starter solenoid are likely). Or it cranks and doesn't start (fuel system, ignition cutoff, anti theft gone bad, etc.)?

I want to make sure the definition of "turn over" in my head lines up with yours. The more details the better (solenoid clicks, or doesn't, etc.).

The stalling could be related or a red herring. Probably is tied. But one thing at a time.

Problem solved. It was a module in the steering column reseptical for thr key. It has six pins that hook up to wires. It about the size of golf ball. The part cost $100 and the labor ran $220 for 3hrs This job was done by my local BMW independent shop not the dealer. If the dealer did the job it would have run at least minimum of $500
