DIY Secondary air pump simulator for $15
Ive gotten a lot of PM's asking how I set up my secondary air pump sim to avoid CEL so here it is:
Get all the parts from here http://318ti.org/forum/showpost.php?...25&postcount=3 and Air pump simulator for 14.50 all credit goes to Johnyboy for coming up with the schematic Bluesteel made a pcb that is not longer available, but you might be able to find the pcb schematic by using google.com otherwise you can just make your own from radioshack parts all info as to where to connect wires to the o2 sensor and where to hook up in to the car are in the pdf's I installed this on my car over 2 years ago and have had no problems passing emissions or cel. if you need instructions post on this thread. ** I went this route after a lot of research, the sap is useless and even if you decide to replace your pump, it has a history of continuing to go bad even after the defective valve that causes it is replaced. at $400 a pump it's not worth going that route.

Great DIY, thanks! I've contemplated whether I should replace my busted air pump or go the simulator route for the very reasons you did. Seems like the system only helps emissions a little but has many places where it can fail (relay, pump, valve, etc).
