Hey Kev,

To begin, here are a couple of reads that really benefitted my situation when I was replacing seats in my '03 powered/heated seats with '08 power/heated seats.

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=804788
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=797110

Like already stated, the occupancy sensor is only in the passenger seat. To my understanding, the airbags will still go off regardless if the airbag light is set off. The occupancy emulator will remove the annoyance of having an airbag light. Since the sensor was updated on the facelift models, it is necessary to use an occupancy sensor if you're swapping seats from an 03-05 to 06-08 (or vice versa). The occupancy sensor I used was this one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/161532315454...S:1123&vxp=mtr

I had problems initially. When the airbag light was cleared, the light would come back two minutes later. After contacting the seller, SRSDRIVE, they noted to open up the module and set switch 2 down/off. Hopefully this will help someone if they experience this.

...Justin?

Thanks for the info. I installed the drivers seat and the passenger seat will go in later this year. Come out to Maywood for autocross this Saturday and check it out!

another huge thank you to you OP finally now understand exactly what i need to do with this one now... so now its ALL about the seat choice and moving forward with that really and the seat i know will give me the position i want, id REALLy like pole positions but sadly they touch the door at the top, so i think I'm going to stick with the tillet option... better start saving :-)

how are those VAC mounts working for you? happy with their quality ?

I'm glad I could help motivate your next upgrade!

Sorry I forgot to measure clearances. My RRS seat is supposedly 21.5" at the shoulder bolsters, and I have a tiny bit of room before it touches the door. So I'd say 22", MAYBE 22.5" would be the maximum shoulder width possible. I'll measure the clearance of the shoulder and thigh bolsters tonight, I promise!

VAC floor mount adapter is a really solid piece of work. Solid aluminum, very nicely made. And the number of mounting holes available made it possible to get my seat perfectly centered.

For the passengers seat I am considering trying an E36/E46 mount from Corbeau, since the VAC kit was an E36/E46 kit. I am concerned about height though.

what I'm wondering is why the mach scnhell floor mounts apparently need ANOTHER piece thats going to post me 250 bucks in total to allow me to use the stock seat belt reciprocal like you did? seems the VAC mounts allowed you to bolt this piece right up. Don't get that at all. Or did you make some sort of L piece to bolt the reciprocal to the floor mount? on your picture of the unit i can't see the L piece but on you VAC floor mount i can see another piece thats you have their ?

Are you referring to this part for Macht Schnell? http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-22...t-schnell.aspx

I was looking at the above but decided to go with VAC's more affordable kit. I'm not an expert but I felt like VAC's kit was sufficient. It is mounted in between the floor and the floor mount adapter.

https://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac...kit-p2303.aspx

The holes are not threaded though, so you will need to get M10 nuts (and longer bolts if you plan on adding any washers or additional harness).

The Macht Shnell seat belt thing looks to be the same concept as VAC, just with a different shape and with the long piece that sits on top of the floor mount adapter as shown in the 2nd picture here:http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-21...t-schnell.aspx

now i see, much prefer the VAC setup, it looks cleaner and is cheaper!

i can grab some m10 nuts no probs... i don't need additional washers ETC as ill be using the stock lap belt so i should be ok with the stock bolt in that location?

I'm ready to rock anyway, all the info i need and those emulators make life a breeze.

You should be OK without a washer and with stock bolt and M10 nut, although you will be right at the limit of the threads on the bolt. I put a washer in because the longer bolt I got (necessary because of the harness) had a smaller bolt head surface against the receptacle so I decided to put the washer in to distribute the load better.

for the sake of a trip to the hardware store i'll judge this on install but if i feel their is insufficient thread ill replace.

You should be fine with just the stock bolt, receptacle, and the VAC bracket. But you're going to the hardware store anyway for the M10 nuts...

check out these dimensions ??? your potbelly the best person to tell me if that (A) figure will work?? comparing to your seat.

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motors...ibreglass-seat

Edit 58cm = 23" so basically no if your 21.5" is literally touching, it will bang again the door as i suspected/have heard from other.

Yeah I don't think 23" will work. I will measure clearance tonight.

17" across? not sure that would be wide enough to support your shoulders! No link/pic though...

I'll post pics of my unsafe/unapproved/dangerous harness "bar" setup after the paint dries (I painted it last night).

Good point. I'm not a big guy but my shoulder feel on the tight side in the 21.5" bolsters. Probably overall geometry of the seat is different so that the 17" works well

I apologize in advance for my filthy interior... never really realized how dirty it was until I looked at these pictures that my phone took with flash on. Guess I'll be cleaning the interior soon!

I took quick measurements.

Gap between thigh bolster and transmission tunnel (~3/8"):

Here, see how the door panel shape almost follows the curve of the shoulder bolster:

View of the gap between shoulder bolster and door panel from above (~3/4", a little less)

lmao at the fitment !!! you literally couldnt have choose better!! almost like it was designed for the car!! how does the seat feel for you, the stock seats are lovely looking but offer no real support, but i think these tight sport cars really beat up on heavily bolstered seats as you constantly rubbing them getting in and out. Have you devised a new exit / get into strategy?

can you post some pics of how the harnesses are connected to the roll hoops please :-)

Garage List
have you done any spirited driving with these seats in yet? Seats tend to move a little bit more than people think, I'm curious if you get any contact when going through corners

Yeah the fitment is pretty good right?

The seat feels great. Much more supportive than the stock M seats. Also my lower back used to hurt when I drove for like 30 mins or an hour even, the new seat has much better ergonomics for me so my back pain seems to be gone.

Entrance strategy is about the same. Exit strategy is almost the same but now I take my left hand and use the rear portion of the body (can't really picture/explain it now) to help lift myself up. I was always really careful about being gently on my bolsters with the stock seats so it's not a huge difference to be honest.

I was gonna take pics of the harness bar setup last night but I felt the paint and it was still a little tacky, so I decided to let it dry some more. I'll take pics either tonight or tomorrow night.

I only did a quick shakedown in a parking lot once. I have an autocross event on Saturday so I will let you know after that. During my shakedown, I didn't feel/notice the seat making contact with anything.
